Dad has anxiety problem...need help.

Hey everyone. I haven't been on here in years. I have an issue that I just can't seem to get help from anywhere on. This was the only place I could think of. My dad gets laid off every winter because he works in construction, and he usually gets a bit stir crazy. Last year he was a little more antsy than usual but as soon as he was called back to work he was back to normal. I got married in September, and my brother got married last week. My dad was his usual self up until the end of February. He turned 62, and also began stressing about paying for parts of my brothers destination wedding. Out of nowhere, he became extremely neurotic, depressed and anxious. He worries about completely irrational things. He trembles and jumps randomly, as if something startles him. He is okay when you get him looking at something or working on something but when he is not distracted he thinks non stop about stuff that makes zero sense. Now for the hard part. My mom has zero patience for this. She thinks he is doing this because he is lazy and doesn't want to work. She never has really grasped the idea of mental illness, and thinks people with any issues are either lazy or just plain old batty. We talked about it today and she said she intends to "put her foot down and stop his crap." I tried to tell her this is not something he has control over and she refuses to believe it. The other thing is that my dad has a commercial drivers license he needs for work. The law says if he goes on any meds or seeks therapy his license will be suspended. So basically, he is upset because he isn't working, and if he seeks help, he will lose his license and not be able to work. I don't know what to do. When he is bad, he is realllllly bad. But as soon as he is distracted he is fine. I always think if he just goes to work he will be okay but I then worry if it doesn't go away he may have an accident on the job or have a melt down and get fired. I am open to all suggestions. I just do not how to get my dad back to normal.
