Since my recovery and reconciliation is a blend of both Compassion and tough love and there are so many of us who are falling into one side or the other. My hope for this thread is for us to find some common ground because the endless fights seem to be driving off OP's.
As I work to refine my own advice/approach to these circumstances either in my life or those around me I have been pondering these two sides and truly seek to reconcile them to each other.
My own stance is be as soft as possible (compassion) but as firm as necessary (tough love), so I use both so it is my belief it is important to understand WHEN to use them and the ethics and intent behind each and to the degree with which they are carried.
Yes we can all have the best pickers and stack the odds in our favor on a spouse, but some of us actually DID that and STILL ended up in infidelity survival. What then....
Let's keep maligning out of this debate. Lets refrain from accusing the other side of not caring because we ALL care.
What I want to see... is where is the common ground between the two sides. My personal opinion is that they cannot be separated. I would like both sides to see the value in the other and cultivate a more unified approach to the OP's who come here in enormous pain.
