Well, I don't care if others enjoy having them but personally I feel like I've over stepped a boundary when a lecturer laughs/jokes develops that kind of relationship with me. I like to have teachers at a distance and to not think of them as social beings? I know I'm being uptight but I can sometimes enjoy discussing topics with them after lecturers etc. It's just when they start asking you which bar you're going to that evening (just an example- the topic changes to more social) or constantly come up to you to talk that I feel uncomfortable. My lecturer recently sent me a really nice email congratulating me on my exam result, which I thanked him for. He then went on to ask me what I was planning to do to celebrate. O____________o. Does anybody else feel uncomfortable with that? I'm probably still stuck in the awkward school mindset but I don't enjoy it at all. I did respond in order to not be rude and he's continuing the conversation.
Put the internet to work for you.
