Lonely Single Boy Wondering If Rebound Relationship With A Girl Is A Good Idea?

I am one of those males that has never been in a relationship before with the opposite sex. It's not that I am afraid or anything, it's just that I really do not know how to approach a girl that is obviously into me about the proposition.There is this one girl who I really want to be in a serious relationship with, but she is incredibly high maintenance and it scares the bejesus out of me. I met her at my summer job bagging groceries and stalking shelves at a local grocery store. This girl caught my eye immediately and we hung out a couple of times and made out during these hang out sessions. I thought she was totally into me, at least that's what the broskys told me. It turns out that my bros aren't good at judging women because she never texted me back after these moments of intimacy, and the only times that she would text me back is for help with Calculus, Statistics, and Economics homework. After several months of asking her if we could go on a date and getting no response back except for homework help, she got in a relationship with a guy for like the first time in five years. This made me very angry because I wasted all that time and brainpower on her, only to have it go to waste. Luckily the guy was a total loser/boozer not going to college and they recently broke up after a month. Now that she is back on the market I need the help of everyone on this forum. I need to know if I should catch her on the rebound. I have read that there is a much higher probability of a guy landing a relationship with a girl on the rebound. I need to know if this is true or not, and if this girl is just not worth my time and brainpower anymore. I know that I have better things that I could be doing, like doing homework or programming, but I really like her an want to be in a real relationship for once.
