FYI; this isn't my story, I made it up to see how people would react in different situations .. although it was inspired by what a friend told me happened with her bf.
.. Your boyfriend texts you saying "you have to come over now I've got the best surprise ever for you, x" and so you get all dressed up and head over to his place, he opens the door and you walk in excited wondering what he's planned .. he leads you into the living room by the hand and tells you to close your eyes and when he tells you to open them he's turned the whole room into some magic wonderland, fairylights covering everything, your favourite songs playing, there's a meal set out on a table and he tells you he just wanted to surprise you with something nice because he cares about you so much, so you get emotional and cry a little and hug him, give him a kiss and sit down together and start eating.. after the meal's over though, he says I need to tell you something, and I think it's best I say it now before she comes over. You look at him, completely confused by this statement but you tell him to go on..
And then he tells you he's screwed your best friend, and he's in love with her, and he arranged this surprise to make the revelation a little more bearable.. they've been seeing eachother for months and have recently discussed the idea of getting engaged, he only kept in a relationship with you because he didn't want to put all his eggs in one basket, but now he realises it's time he made the right choice. He looks at you with pride, as though he feels proud of the fact that he's made such a noble decision, he looks at his watch and says she's due in half an hour..
