weight loss

I have seen and commented on a few weight loss threads on here and wanted to provide some feedback that hopefully will be helpful to others.

I am overweight. I've been up and down over the years, but thus very stressful year (at work) led to a 25 to 30 pound gain in a year. I was very frustrated because I am active. I play tennis several days a week and walk a few nights a week. I could not understand my excessive weight gain in a year. I had tried dieting but the scale didn't move.

I talked to some fit people. Most explained that walking does not get your heart rate up enough to lead to weight loss. Tennis helps, but it isn't enough either.

I started boot camp fitness training last month and what a difference! The weight is starting to come off. Of course, I have to watch what I eat. Less sweets, more eating at home. However, I still eat lunches out and have pasta, Mexican food etc once a week. But working out harder is starting to reshape my body. I've lost 6 pounds so far, which isn't much overall, but every week my body looks better. I have months to go, though.

What I've learned is fad diets work temporarily. I've lost 25 plus pounds in a few months several times just to put it back on and more with it. I've tried tennis and walking. No weight loss. It cones down to cardio and weight training to lose weight.

Hopefully this will help anyone that is struggling, like I have, with weight loss.
