sleeping in same bed

my bf was shocked when i wanted to sleep in a different room to him last night (as we were staying in my parents' house). he said that it's all about the intimacy for him and it's v important that we sleep in the same bed. with my ex, we had the chance to sleep in separate beds when we lived together and we did most of the time. i just get better sleep when i m sleeping on my own and so did he. my current boyfriend does not snore, but i do wake when he s sometimes tossing and turning. and he usually faces me and his breath really bothers me, as it's too cold by the time it reaches me. also, although i've managed to speak to him about this, he likes to cuddle and be as close as possible during bedtime. i just want to sleep however. and the presence of him disturbs me. pls opinions? and how do you prefer to sleep? would you sleep in a different bed if given the chance?
