Boyfriend's "alone time"

I've been dating my bf for about 6 months and lately he seems really keen on having his "alone time". At the beginning of the relationship, it was amazing and we spent loads of time together but recently it has been very conditional, a few nights a week but only for an hour or two as he has "things he needs to do". The problem this time is that whilst he told me that he wanted his own time, I've discovered that he actually spent the whole of last night and today just hanging out with his best friend which just makes me feel really fobbed off, especially as he knew I would be by myself and bored all day today. I really don't know whether to say anything about it as whilst I don't want to tell him he has to spend all his time with me and not see his friends, I do feel that lately I have had to seriously compete for his attention and when I do receive it, it is always pretty conditional, which is a huge change from the last few months. It almost seem s that I'm an obligation rather than someone he actively wants to spend time with :(
