| I went on a date with a guy last week, it was not bad, although not brilliant, he seemed like a nice guy but even then (first date so we had the most to talk about) there were some odd silences and he seemed a bit reticent. He kept in touch and wrote me lengthy emails afterwards and seemed definitely interested so agreed to go on another date with him yesterday. He took me out to dinner and paid for the most of it (although I only ordered half a portion and he is well-off anyway) but after this date I really don't want to see him again. His sense of humour just didn't appeal to me, there were awkward silences (awkward on my part, not sure he really realised how uncomfortable I was then/ not being a natural conversationalist is most likely just the way he is), conversation didn't flow and he/the date was just really boring, droning on, couldn't wait for it to finish. I am not sure how to say no now to a potential third date. After a first date if I don't want to go on another date I come out with the classic line of 'lovely to have met you but that old elusive spark just wasn't there for me.' etc. but this was a second date and even though I felt positive about him after the first date (it was a 'maybe' not a 'no'), I am just not interested now after the second date and not sure how to put it to him. I feel I can't say that about the spark as that is only valid right after meeting someone for the first time, after a third or more I could say that I'm not feeling that I'll ever see him as a potential love interest, but how do I turn him down after a second date? thank you. | |||
