Muslim men are allowed to practice polygyny, that is, they can have more than one wife at the same time, up to a total of four.
However , like any religion islam is sometimes is misinterpreted , because the above statement doesn't mean that every man has the right to do it ; in Holy Quraan it clearly emphasize that if a man can be fair he is allowed to have have four ; meaning that if you can't be fair you shouldn't do it .
The other type of polygyny is something called "zawaj Misiar ", which is for Sunni sect is a second marriage were partners agree on terms to secure a relatively long marriage emotionally and financially ( who pays for house , any salary for wive , etc ...) ; the condition of this marriage is that the women must not be a virgin ; it is a kind of marriage where the partners are both HD and they want to enjoy intimacy under "religion blessing ."
The above is different that "Zawaj al Nukaah " which is spread in Iraq and Syria nowadays among who are claiming islam .
I just want to mention that though I am not a religious guy , born Muslim but never prayed continuously .
I am tempted go for polygyny now after all those years of sex deprivation ; however ,my own version is that in order for it to be away from cheating , my wife should know about it and approve it !
what is stopping me now is that the image of the good father will be distorted in front of my girls ;may be in few years , when they grow more , it could be possible .
I hope this won't start a non intended debate about religion , nor going back in time and try to fix a failing marriage ; it is simply when marriage is over and Divorce is not an option as agreed by both partners ; How open marriage works really ? how it's different from adultery ?
