Is having a decent, well-paid job a necessary factor in being FRIENDS with women? Idk

  • Thread Starter

In my last thread I asked for advice on and somewhere along the line was advised to stop mulling over not having female friends, grow up and get a damn job. I am on sick leave due to semi-related mental health issues/disability and the fact I was discriminated against in my last part-time job due to these issues. I have no evidence for this discrimination so I can't pursue the Discrimination Act, but I was definitely treated like a kid by my boss and one time she gave me an appraisal for having a panic attack in front of a customer. Apparently I am not the only employee who has had trouble with her...

Anyway, I don't understand why anything more than volunteering/some form of contribution to society or a dead-end part-time job would be a necessary factor in making friends with women. I can understand the whole "we like ambitious men who have their **** together" thing for a relationship but friendship should be less conditional, surely? Hearing this statement about my being a man child did make me wonder whether I should just focus on my career and ignore attempts to socialise with women, but that would be kind of sexist… :S
