Mistress Mary, Quite contrary, How does your garden grow? With Silver Bells, And C o c kleShells, And so my garden grows. The oldest known version was first published in Tommy Thumb's Pretty Song Book (c. 1744). It's an old song verse... and gardening is one of the favorite human pass times even today.... I thought that we could all share are summer gardening pictures and stories... Here's a picture of my favorite garden spot in the back yard. It's the back of our patio. The foliage is apricot, shrubs, and mulberry tree. I'm not sure what the shrubs are. They are about 15-20 feet tall and have huge white flower clusters. All of these plants were most likely planted in the late 1940's. The dog is Moose. The patio is a bit of a mess 'cause we've been using it for planting pots. Then there is a new leaf blower that we've been using to blow away the elm seeds and flower pieces from all the early spring flowing shrubs. The gate that is at the end of the patio goes in to a field that is not being used right now. The people who owned this place about 10 years ago kept goats in that field. There was a goat house that fell down recently and has been removed. Up till last summer we had two mares living in the field. | |||
