My wife and I are okay. Our kids are doing okay. We're not rich but we have nice lives IMO. Others in my family are struggling and Christmas is the one holiday that really body slams those who are struggling to make ends meet. Mostly due to guilt that they can't afford to buy gifts or give their kids the nice presents.
I wish Christmas was more based around helping rather than giving. Yes giving does help those who need help but buying gifts for the sake of buying gifts is just missing the target. Here's an example. Many in my family are struggling but others are not. In my mind the Christmas spirit means we help those needing it but I should not get a present because I don't need it. My nephew who drew my name on the other hand is struggling. So he's working but young and has two babies yet he's going to buy me a present. Something's not right about that.
I want our family to all get together and say we love each other and enjoy the company and buy the kids presents.
