After a visit with my doctor today we have diagnosed depression, and I would like to know how you and/or others you know who had experienced this tackled it and came through. I believe a few bouts of unexplained and stressful health related concerns triggered it all, but that is just a guess. My big/main symptoms:
For the past 1-2 months I have loss interest in doing anything, whether it be playing games, watching TV, going shopping, hanging out with friends, going to the bar, sex, etc. Chores seem entirely too cumbersome now, even simple ones like taking the trash out. I have been eating less frequently, smaller meals, and have lost 5-7 lbs in the past month. I sleep 8-10 hours a night and yet feel exhausted in the morning and at various times throughout the day.
I have been on antidepressant meds for about 5 weeks now, though started at a very low dose for the first few weeks. I see my psychologist next week but this is the first time I will be talking to him regarding this issue (we have talked in the past about relationship/family problems). I am also starting to try and exercise more. What else do you recommend to get through this? Any positive reinforcement, ideas, suggestions, etc would be awesome. Thank you!
