| *Disclaimer* I'm not claiming that tall men aren't more attractive, even I, as a straight, short, male can appreciate that taller men are (on the whole) more elegant and majestic than us vertically challenged brethren. I do believe that to some extent height bias is down to social conditioning rather than evolutionary psychology but that is a totally different matter. However, us short men are often labelled as "insecure" when we complain about women who set stringent height requirements when searching for a potential partner. But as a matter of fact, isn't it the women themselves who are insecure as the reason (I believe) they want a tall man isn't due to attraction but because they want a partner whom society deems desirable and can be used as a status symbol. I'm sure there would be many instances where they would be just as happy with a 5'7 man, but he wouldn't look nearly as impressive when you parade him in front of your peers. Basically what i'm saying boils down to "women like tall men for status rather than attraction". As always, I apologize if what I say sounds like total poppy**** - most people on this forum are much smarter than me. | |||
