Boyfriend issues

To start off, i'm Anon because I have friends that use tsr. To put this in context, I have been with my current boyfriend for just over a year, we're 18 and in Sixth Form. For the whole of our relationship he has been insecure and constantly makes remarks about how I could do better and asks me why i'm with him. I caught him texting another girl a few months ago- nothing too sinister- but deleting the message he sent first to make it look like she had started the conversation. When I asked him about it, he said he 'liked the fact I got jealous and overprotective of him' so that's why he had made it look like this girl was texting him. Although I thought this was incredibly manipulative, I didn't break up with him and we just forgot about it. However, recently he's been acting more insecure and immature than usual. But then says things like 'i'm the one' and he's 'in love with me' but I just don't know if i feel the same way. I do love him but in all honestly, i don't think we're going to stay together after we go to uni (later this year). I don't know if I should just cut my losses and call it a day now- especially seeing as I have a2 to focus on- or whether I should try and make it work? comments and help would be appreciated!! thanks :)
