Should I appear on a documentary?

Ok so at my Uni this year they are filming a Channel 4 documentary (however I can't decide if it is more Geordie Shore, or more Animal Planet - as it is described as a documentary but they film your everyday life and youu social networking) following the lives of 12 first years through the first term. They give you new phones so they can track all communication and put you in a hall with the other students. I'm at an advanced part of the screening process, however I am unsure as to whether I should accept a place, if I am offered one. I think it would be a great experience and fun (and daunting) to be on TV, however I am wary of drawbacks such as hate from the mob or mockery etc. What does TSR think?
