Never Made it Past a 1st Date.

A couple weeks ago I met a girl online (yes...I'm giving online dating a shot) and within the first message or two she suggested we meet up for a date. It was last Wednesday we had our first date and it was great. Our original, more unique plan didn't work out so we just went to a place to eat and have drinks. Being that we're both beer snobs it worked out. At the end of the date she said she wanted to see me again. Shortly after I came to the realization that since my last girlfriend 3 years ago, I've never made it past the 1st date with a girl. The other thing is that none of the girls seemed to be off-put by me in any way. Most of them even said they wanted to see me again, which never actually happened. With this girl, I've done the 1st date and now I'm getting nervous. This is where things usually go wrong for me. I never know how to go about getting the 2nd date or how often to contact a girl. If I had my way I'd have the 2nd date within a few days of the first. Obviously this comes across as needy so I can't do that. I'm finding myself fighting the urge to text her daily, I can't help it. When I like someone I really like them, I never find myself "sorta liking a girl" so naturally I want to talk to her all the time. What I'm asking is when should I ask for a 2nd date? How often should I contact her? I haven't talked to her in about two days, but I don't want to wait too long, but I don't want to plan a date too far ahead of time either. Overall I'm just really afraid of scaring her away. It's happened to me a lot in the past so it's become all I expect from girls.
