Does he like me? ****

I have this friend. We work together, we don't really work at the same time. Anyway when we do work together there's always some sort of tension going on. We talk outside work occasionally and our conversations always last like 3 or 4 hours or so. Today he insisted on taking me home after work cos he felt bad that I had to walk, I said it was ok but in the end he took me home. He always does little things for me here and there then says he's quite a selfish person. The other day he said he can't do the whole getting to know a girl routine and spending hours on the phone with girls. Yet he will find time to call me and we talk about everything under the sun. Today he was giving advice to our colleague and said "I don't really buy people presents unless they are getting me one" yet the last gift he got me, he did it off his own back and didn't ask for anything in return. When we go out he offers to pay etc (no I don't always let him). When we talk about relationships he always talks about getting friendzoned or that when he's liked a girl recently if he feels she doesn't like him he stops making an effort. It just seems like he's hinting to me or something. What does it sound like to you?)
