I am a 23 year old gay guy and I'm currently single. In the past I've used apps such as tinder and grindr (looking for dates more than hooks up) but I have always found myself deleting the app within a short amount of time due to loss of interest / not really getting anywhere (moreso near exams as I'm on quite an intense course at a uni). In the last year I ended up matching with the same guy twice both times I had the app - and we always liked each others moments yet never really chatted/messaged each other.
Now on Thursday I was out at a bar with some friends and I spotted him there. I didn't really read into it - we made eye contact but I didn't think he remembered who I was on the app. Needless to say I just carried on chatting to my friends and didn't give it a second thought. He then interrupts and approaches me and within like 30 seconds we start kissing. We then migrate outside the bar and actually chat and we really got on. As the night progressed I ended up staying out with him and we just chatted all night. I ended up going back to his and we spooned all night. I left quite early the next morning as I had to be at uni the next day and we were just texting back and forth all day.
I am such an awkward tester and I left my last text with something along the lines of 'Let me know if you want to meet up for a date in the new year x' and he replied with a long message ending with how he hopes I enjoy home and 'Of course, look forward to seeing you x'. I think he's an attractive guy and he's someone I would like to date and get to know more. In the past I've always gone wrong by being expressive and quite needy and just saying it how it is at my own detriment. This time I'm stuck. I feel like I have done the right thing and I'm playing it cool. It's a proper awkward time of year to be starting anything with xmas and new years soon but I feel like he'll lose interest if I don't strike whilst the iron is hot?
Not sure what to do. I want to text him being like 'Hey you, how was your weekend. Are you heading back up to X for xmas this week?' or shall I just leave it until xmas day and wish him a merry xmas? Or shall I just not message him anything and wait for him to get in touch with me?
