I'm 43 and have suffered with headaches all my life. When I get my period I get a headache, sometimes its just a mild headache other times it can be a migraine with vomiting. After having my children ( 11 and 9 ) the headaches seemed to be less frequent until a few years ago. A few years ago I started skipping my period I also started hot flushes and night sweats. I can handle the hot flushes and night sweats but I just can't manage the headaches. My GP's advice was to back on birth control, which I did. That has partly helped. I've been taking BC continuously and only having 3-4 periods a year ( on my Dr's recommendation ). The problem is that now when I have a period it puts me out of action for days. It's Monday afternoon here and I've had a headache since Saturday night. Last night my headache was so bad I would have done just about anything to make it stop.
Earlier this year I went to a specialist who specialises in hormone disorders, he is suppose to be the best in Sydney. His advice was to go on hormone replacement therapy ( HRT ). He said my headaches would stop.
I'm not sure what to do, anyone with any advice ?
