was i wrong to be texting my friends whilst with my boyfriend?

i was at my boyfriends house and me, him and his dad were watching Game of Thrones. His Dad was asleep in the armchair. My boyfriend was on the same sofa but not really near me. My boyfriend was already in a massive mood about something (no idea what, id got the silent treatment the whole time since being there and ended up just talking with his Dad). Anyway, my boyfriend and his Dad are huge fans of game of thrones, i have NEVER watched it, i know nothing about it, i wasnt interested in it, i was bored. My boyfriend was busy watching it so obviously i was just bored. So I got my phone out and started texting my friends (silently) just asking how they were etc. He was fuming....giving me absolute death stares, telling me to get off my phone etc. I was trying to explain i was bored, its not like he was hugging me or talking to me, he was watching the programme, and i have no interest in it so i thought id just sit and text. But still he was angry i was on the phone when were ''socialising'', even though the whole time, his Dad was asleep, and my boyfriend wasnt even near me or talking to me!!. Was i in the wrong? Or was i being really rude?
