I'm a final year student at uni and I just finished and handed in my dissertation. I worked very hard for my dissertation, often not sleeping at night in order to stay up and work for it. As a result my sleeping schedule has been messed up and I now go to sleep at about 6am and wake up at about 4pm.
My little sister who is 6 is having an end of year party. I told my mum I don't want to come to her party because I'm sleeping during those hours. She lives in London and I'll have to take a train 3 hours there and back and I'll probably be tired for days if I go there in the morning, when I usually sleep these days.
My mum's response was "ok, maybe we'll be too tired to go to your graduation ceremony". I think the reason she thinks she's justified is that I've been taking the trip to London and back every weekend when it suited me when I was going through a difficult time and wanted my family's support.
Do you think she's got a point or was I being a complete bitch not coming there? I'm a bit confused because my mum's comment came out of nowhere, I had no idea she'd be so mad at me for it.
Put the internet to work for you.
