I really am not that interested in even discussing too much more in the Political forum for many reasons. I get this feeling it has become a strident Left - Right bunch of threads. You are either on this side or that side. And what ever side you are on, the other is by default wrong. I guess I just am not on board with that type of thinking. I am the odd shaped peg. Yes, I do favor fiscal responsibility (does not mean we spend zero and collect zero taxes). Smart investing, smart regulations, smart use of military and just generally smart legislation to realize we can't do it all, but we can do something but within our means, is what I favor. I run a tight fiscal budget at home and in my work. I am not a protectionist, yet I am also not a nation builder hawk. We live in a global society and we cannot ignore relationships with other regions and countries. There was a time when Presidents and leaders in the free world talked with foreign leaders (some of which were our enemies). The drum beat of war should be used sparingly in place of diplomacy. However domestically, I am also very much a strong proponent of being socially liberal within means that does not impact the greater society. And, yes I do favor market place pressure against socialized markets. However, I see a huge difference in market pressures for cars, clothes, house purchase, etc, versus other things that we all access, like health care. I know I differ on many issue with most, but I don't think you can square this odd shape peg into your round hole. It won't work. I don't fawn over President Obama anymore than I would vilify Senator Ted Cruz. So feel free to make whatever snarky comments you like in my stances on things (most of you know how I view global warming), but frankly I am too busy right now to address any and every issue. My hope is that this thread does not degrade, but stands more as what do you hope for in your country rather than what are you automatically against. Hope may spring eternal, but sometime it can be poisoned. :D | |||

Squaring an odd shaped peg into a round hole
