Personal Property Taxes are a Scam

I have to vent. I have a $650 bill sitting here for personal property taxes on my vehicles. So, first the government takes money out of our paychecks, then charges us sales tax when we buy anything, then charges us every single year to own the property we already paid for. If we don't pay it then we go to jail. So over the life of that car, it probably makes far more money for the government than it ever did for Ford motor company. Then, if I sell my vehicle to some one else, the government gets more sales tax from the next owner. What a freakin scam. The thing is, if the government doesn't own these items, what gives them the right to tax us? It's pretty much because they passed laws that say they can do this. I don't tax my neighbor for his car, and it's because I don't own it that I don't have the legal right to tax him for it. The government gets to tax us because they passed laws that say they can. People talk about being oppressed. Well, the government is the biggest oppressor of people there is. How can we be free and have agency over our own lives when everywhere we turn we face oppressive laws and taxes? If I had my way, we'd have a 10% flat tax. Let the government work with that, and cut the rest of the wasteful government spending. Off soap box.
