Different species?

I am standing in line at the supermarket and 3 young girls are looking through female magazines. Now as I look over their shoulders I see thin stick women in clothes hanger dressers,pale and drawn with no makeup. I think, wow what a message to impressionable young women.Now if you opened a men's adult magazine you would see the exact opposite. If you opened a muscle mag its all about yourself or looking good for other men. The front cover of most women's mag talks to a article on S_x but is that just the equivalent of a women's peep show of looking but never doing?
So what attracts one to the other , EVER?
