Why would WH question MY love and sincerity?

I had a long conversation with my WH who told me on Sunday that he decided that he wants divorce. We discussed many issues and he seems to be questioning whether I don't want a divorce because I am afraid of being abandoned or I am afraid of being alone and miserable like my Mom. My parents divorced after 37 years. We are married 30 years. He questions if I am truly sad because I love him and don't want to lose him. During this long final conversation (I went dark after this conversation) there were some tense moments and we crying and he became angry and said to me, "do you want me stay with you, I will stay with you." Can someone please explain this final conversation to me? Thank you VH
