One of my friends recently came out as bisexual, in a sort of 80-20 guys-girls ratio. He's a really kind, sweet, intelligent guy, but he's getting tonnes of abuse and mockery from his classmates (he's in the year below me) and his parents swing between being in denial and treating him as though he is beneath them. His family are devoutly religious, and so they are having trouble accepting his sexuality. All the crap being thrown at him at the moment is really getting him down, and while I can comfort him with hugs, I don't really know what advice to offer him, having never been in his situation.
He has confided in a few of my friends and our RE teacher, who's really helping him, but I was wondering if any of you guys could offer him any advice. If you were bullied for coming out, or your parents wouldn't accept it, how did you get through it? Is there any method of coping which worked well for you? Any response would be greatly appreciated, thank you! :) <3
