Okay so it's obviously not as simple as that. Basically, my new boyfriend is from a working class background, he is not academically clever and left school after GCSEs however he has been pretty successful in what he does and is now starting his own business (so currently "unemployed") . My family are quite academically driven and my mum has made no secret of the fact that I should be looking for someone with good 'prospects' . My ex was from a very rich family (both parents doctors) and this seemed to be a massive bonus to them. I'm just a bit worried about how my family (and friends who hold a similar mindset) will react. I have every faith that my boyfriend will be successful because he is one of the most ambitious and driven people I know, I worry they're going to judge him as a no hoper.
