Why are girls and guys so different when it comes to attitudes towardsex, in general?

I recently had sex with this guy... we both knew it was casual as we are both moving away (he has now moved away). I thought I'd be OK with that because I was really wanting sex with him... in general I am fine with that but deep inside I know I'd be happier with more... but I don't need it. He, however, from what I can gather, just took his sex and was happy. We chatted a bit over text for a few days but now I'm pretty sure that chapter's over, although he did say he would really like to see me again when we said our "last goodbyes" (probably in terms of sex). I don't really think he gave me much of a second thought... like I don't understand why some guys can be so unattached from sex?
