Your manager comes in to visit on an international trip, spends two days with you, and far from it being a stressful position, you find it to be a great visit.
We had great conversation together about everything from our purpose in life (My manager is from a different home country than I am from), religions, politics, family, and even when we plan to retire, and all of it is good, comfortable conversation. I got to share with him some of the food, and some of the culture that makes me love my adopted home country (the country of my wife's origin) and got to see him really enjoy it, too.
I probably will see him again in July, when I have to return to the US for a team meeting. I'll meet with him on lync meetings almost every week for an hour. But most of all, I got to truly enjoy the couple of days with him, and think of my manager as a friend.
This week, I have 4 days away from my wife, and that is normally not a great week. My manager departs the country tomorrow, but I have to stay in Seoul for another 2 days for customer engagements. I'll return home to Busan on Friday. However; this meeting with my manager was a great two days.
