I'm moving next week because I have a job offer, and unfortunately an old former friend from uni lives in the area. This would be fine, apart from the fact I really don't like him. I got on with him OK at uni as we had several interests in common, and I hoped he'd have grown up, but he still acted like a 15-year-old even in final year.
He's quite passive aggressive, constantly giving people backhanded compliments, and generally not a nice person. However, for some reason he's also clingy and remembers people very well even if he hasn't spoken to them for ages. He has a habit of pretending to be nice and friendly to people (he's one of those people who "hates to be ignored" and stares at me for ages) and then subtly insulting them and so on once they trust him enough. He's pretentious and annoyingly chirpy sometimes when having heard some of the stuff he said about other friends behind their backs lets me know what he is like!
Anyway. I'll probably see him in the area, and he'll probably say hi, but I don't want to talk to him. Should I just pretend not to know him and that he must have mistaken me for someone else? (We haven't talked to each other for about a year). I CBA to be civil, he said some stuff about a friend that was disgusting, and though that was ages ago and I don't want to get into a long argument with him I can't be bothered with the guy any more.
