Losing your V before uni?

So I have a friend and a perfectly acceptable opportunity to lose my virginity at age 17/18 before going to uni. Should I take it just for the sake of being urm 'deflowered' before going away from home? Does it matter that much? Only I don't wanna be inexperienced or whatever. Or should I wait til I meet someone I actually do feel romantically inclined towards? Oh and I am a girl, by the way!
