Both shy... don't wanna scare her away :/

I met this girl before the end of the academic year last year at uni and I thought she was really cute upon meeting her... I got her number and we've been messaging all summer. For one reason and another we were both at university sorting things out for next year so we hung out a couple times we watched tv and talked till the early hours ... nothing sexual happened as I genuinely like this girl so I dont wanna ruin things by coming on too strong but I am attracted to this girl. I've told her I like her more than a friend and that I'm just shy and that I'd like to get to know her and she said she'd like that. Obviously I won't see her till I get back to uni but I'm wondering the best way to move forward as I really like this girl. She doesn't seem like the type who puts themselves about with guys. I think she's interested as she could of just said she likes me as a mate when I said I liked her. Also would you see it as a red flag (bad thing) if she takes hours to message back... it does mean that it doesn't get too stale too quick so we just send one or two long messages a day or is this a sign she's just not that into me? Hope I can get some advice... cheers!
