Getting jealous when you're drunk

  • Thread Starter

So I'm only just sobering up after freshers ball but I feel I need help with this now.

The last few days I've gotten a liking for one of my housemates; he's decent looking and quite a laugh. However, we've only known each other a week, so it's little more than a crush, maybe even less. However the problem is, tonight he's been talking to this other girl and in my mind I'm really jealous. I've brushed it off most of the night due to being drunk but then I did something a bit stupid.

I left freshers ball a bit early, hoping to get extra booze but ultimately failing. So I got home and started checking if there were after parties. However it didn't slip my mind that my housemate may bring this girl back so like the genius I am, I kept checking out the window with my headphones on standby. Unfortunately when I did see them, they saw me too and stayed outside; clearly it looked like I was some psycho stalker type which I'm really not. Anyway, they started heading back here but then I saw them walking off again. At this point I don't care whether they end up here, however they now probably think I'm some kind of weirdo. What do I do?

Can a single girl survive without a man??

  • Thread Starter

I don't mean to be sexist or stereotype or anything so don't get offended by this but it's pretty obvious that women need men to physically protect them. It's what all husbands and boyfriends do for their wives or girlfriends. All girls know going to a club alone means trouble from random men but going with a male whether he is a brother, friend, or boyfriend always keeps the weird men away. In general, in big cities like London, I'm sure a girl feels safe walking around late at night with her husband/boyfriend rather than with another girl or alone.

I being a single girl who has never had a bf and lives in London feel very uncomfortable and sad when I am all alone or in a crowded train pushed up against other passengers and I look around and see guys hugging and kind of shielding their girlfriend or wife from the strangers and there I am with no one. I am a strong, independent girl who is a student at a top university, financially dependent, etc. I go everywhere alone and do everything by myself. I don't think it is ideal or practical though. Sometimes when I go out late to run errands I feel really unsafe and sad. I wish I had a guy with me. Someone I love and am attracted to to spend time with and explore the city with. I wish I wasn't always alone. I know I'd feel safer with a guy. What are your thoughts? Girls who are like what I described, do you agree or not? Guys, do you agree?? AND I don't mean I want a boyfriend as a bodyguard, I just wish I had a guy in my life who I could also feel really safe around and it wo uld get rid of any feelings of fear when I'm out late. I mean I think after a certain point it is really pointless to live a single life. Life is meant for companionship.
Thanks!

What is it like being a cute/pretty girl? Or a girl in general?

  • Thread Starter

The dynamics of dating seems to be so much in favour of females, it's ridiculous.

What is it like to be a decent looking female, to never really have to make the effort, and so effectively have relationships and sex on tap for the first 30 years of your life?

Just curious :)

Can't handle breakup 5 months on, a bit of writing therapy...

  • Thread Starter

In the end, at the end of the day it was you who destroyed it. It wasn't me at all, and while it hurts so much that the cards were ultimately

never in my hands, I can say that as far as this quantum super-imposed spatial and temporal enigmatic multiverse-paralellism of reality goes I

did everything I could in my power as a mere human being to preserve the beauty I felt when I was with you, whether you didn't see it or you did

doesn't matter now. I know

that one day, be it months or years, maybe decades, you will remember me and you will realize what you destroyed and I really hope when they day

comes, i truly hope you don't feel even a billionth of a fraction of the loss and pain i've felt because, like the black hole of pain and misery

that erupted in my being since this all ended, it feels infinite and unknown, i've felt lost, betrayed. My world shattered.

We could have been something that transcended time and space, and I know that's how you felt when we were in my room wearing nothing, with no

warmth in the world other than the skin of the other, gazing into each others eyes, so black they're like the universe. And we both had been

through the same trauma, a unique kind that so many would never understand, and as we lay together we spoke for hours about things other people

would never understand, things that no one can relate to because so few people have such specific problems in their lives,

I really thought I had found someone who I could open up too finally, I let it all go, the mask I wear so much it's become my face, i let it

slip with you, you saw me like no other, and I felt after years and years, if not my whole life, knowing that it was very unlikely, if not

impossible, i'll ever find anyone who ever understood me or I could show this side of me to, knowing that truly to fall in love just wouldn't

happen to me I felt that the universe had given me that which I thought was only a dream when we met. I've never had a hard time with physical

attraction luckily thanks to this exterior, the face, the mask I wear. Being attractive physically might mean you can find love easily right? for

me it couldn't be further from the truth, because although people might say you are good looking I can never FEEL like I am, and that's something

you knew only all too well and something we shared, but also it goes deeper than that, just because someone likes how you look, it doesn't mean

they like you, how can someone understand you when they've never been thought what you have? I could never relate to the other girls, and so many

of them were so conventionally beautiful, and even though you might not have been seen as so, to me you were, to me you were the most beautiful

girl in the world, to me you were, through my eyes i'd choose you over anyone, you saw more to me than this shell of meat I reside in, the cosmic

spacesuit, you saw into my soul, somewhere I never thought I could share with anyone, and hid so well for so long.

I really I need to always remember that, no matter how painful it's been since i've cut you out of my life after our short, beautiful yet

chaotic and destructive relationship, since you've been gone months and months have passed, yet here I still find myself thinking about you, and

having those same feelings all come out, the pain the sadness the longing for the universe to have just let this one thing work, to just allow us

to work, I wish so hard whatever it was that happened to you while we were seeing each other didn't happen, it was such a cruel maneuver of the

universe for your mental illness to creep up on you once again and tear your life apart left right and center.

It's likely I was just collateral damage, maybe you could have done something to save us, maybe we were doomed. I really did think I loved you, I

just feel like bursting into tears sometimes when I think about how good I felt when we were together compared to how I do now.

I've been a broken man for a long time, but I'm picking up the pieces, i'm writing this just to vent, I'll never contact you again, like I

promised, it's for the best. I just can't risk it, I can never let my life get to this point ever again. Before I always thought "give her one

last chance", or "wait it out, she will get better soon" all of these things prolonged my agony and just resulted in a climax of excruciating

pain on every scale i could ever imagine, emotional, spiritual, even existential.

I don't think I'll ever let anyone in as much as I let you again, maybe ever. and that's not necessarily a bad thing. I've just had too much

pain. I had a mini existential break down, I stopped talking to friends, I failed my exams at uni. Everything collapsed.

I wish so badly we could have worked, hopefully in another universe, parallel to this we worked it out, and right now instead of typing this

you're here laying next to me like before. I have to accept I can't change some things and I have to accept I tried my best, The mind of god is

insane and lonely, we're all born into this crazy world, with crazy rules and we try our best to make sense and make order of it all be it

through religion or some other kind of systems of belief, all I know is in this crazy world, i've always felt like a freak and felt alone in how

I think but I found my other half no doubt at least once, it's a crazy world and I wish we could have gone through it together. maybe in another universe...

why don't I ever sweat?, really weird

  • Thread Starter

I just noticed recently that i never sweat, this was mentioned by a few of my friends. When i play sports or go to the gym i only get a bit red. I heard sweat is good for you, should i see a doctor. I drink 2 litres of water a day. On the plus side i don't need to wear deodorant as i don't smell. I will smell exactly the same after a shower and after a full body work out. I am getting worried because i was reading a article on the health benefits of sweat after a workout.

Helping a depressed partner?

I'm 28, my partner is 30 - we've been married for 8 years, lived together for 10 and known each other since early highschool, We've been together, loved each other and enjoyed our lives together all of that time. All the major growth in out lives has been together, generally in the same direction and our relationship has always been on of support, affection and shared fun.

The last 12 months have been very difficult for both of us and have involved a lot of heartache, grief, uncertainty and change. I thought we have been dealing with this Lemon-bonanza as best we could and that any pain, disagreements and exhaustion we were experiencing was understandable given the varying situations we were facing and that the best I could do was try and be calm and consistent, stay the course and wait for things to improve. Under the cover of our circumstances I have come to realise we have totally come adrift from each other. We've become really indifferent to each other and that my husband has been really hurting and has become very depressed.

He's become self-absorbed, apathetic, indifferent, cold and unhappy- it's become really difficult to engage him in a way which he is cheered or pleasant to be around - let alone in a way which I feel rewarded or encouraged to continue. I'm really struggling myself, I feel like I can't 'keep it up regardless.'

I'm not angry at him and I don't resent the problems we're having, but I'm desperate for some new ideas or perspectives. Can anyone share their experiences with a depressed husband or partner? What is reasonable to expect and what can be done how to help and cope?

Please be encouraging - I understand many people may have had to resort to separation or divorce but that's not a direction want to consider.

Children after divorce.

Hi all, it is looking as though my wife and I may end up divorced for a variety of reasons. My biggest concern is the welfare of my baby son. I think he is also the biggest worry my wife has.

So I would like to know how you and your ex handled taking care of your children when you split. Both my wife and I love our son very much.

Were your kids crushed emotionally and did they act out in a negative fashion? I believe since our son is less than a year old he will be less likely impacted than if he were older.

Next question is how should my wife and I prepare for being the divorced parents of our child? I know I will be paying child support and I am fine with that. He is absolutely worth every penny and I trust my wife totally when it comes to finances.

Thanks for reading and please feel free to add any information you think I need to know outside of the questions I asked.

What's a good picture to use as my main Tinder profile pic? (male)

  • Thread Starter

I'm using Tinder and I'm wondering what is the best kind of main profile pic to use that girls find the most appealing.

Currently I've got one of me in a suit and tie and smiling and when I asked a female friend of mine, she said that that is a good picture to have.

However I'd like to get more opinions, maybe there's a different kind of picture that can increase my chances for matches and if so, what might it be?

Is the age gap too big?

  • Thread Starter

I'm 21 year old male and I've been seeing a 34 year old woman for the past couple of months.

Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on the age gap. Is it too large for this to work? We like each other alot and getting dangerously close to being "serious". But I'm apprehensive due to the possible problems that may arise in the future.

Have you ever been offered money from someone you are "talking" before?

  • Thread Starter

A man a lot older than me offered me money and said he could give up to £120. I have refused even though it would be useful with what he said he would give it to me for. We arent in a relationship but do have a sexual thing going on.

Anyone ever experienced this? What does it mean?

Please help, I love him but don't know if I truly want to be with him...?

  • Thread Starter

I have been with my boyfriend for over a year and he is my first boyfriend. He has had several relationships before which didn't last long at all and this is a lot more serious for him. Basically, I love him so much and can not imagine him not being in my life now. I am constantly thinking about him and miss him a lot when we are not together. I never thought I could be so comfortable with someone and I also trust him very much. We get on great together, we never have big arguments and when we do disagree we always find a way to move on. We have talked about marriage, children etc. and these are things we both want. We have met each others families also.

However, when I imagine him being the one I will spend the rest of my life with, I don't really like the idea of it. He doesn't have much going for himself and he has very little ambition. He has very few qualifications, left school at around age 17 and went straight to work, didn't go to college or university. His job isn't great, it is in retail, and I think he earns around the minimum wage. He doesn't drive and has no intention to, apparently he is too scared. He also doesn't really want to ever move away from where we are just now. I, on the other hand, am extremely ambitious. I have one more year left of university, then I have no idea where I am going with my life. I might get a job and this might involve moving away or I might go on to do further study. I think education is very important and I want to do the best I possibly can with my life.

So basically, my boyfriend isn't the sort of person who I would like to be with for the rest of my life in this sense. I just feel like being with him forever might drag me down a bit. I have always wanted to marry someone with a good career who can support a family and who has ambitions in life. But on the other hand, like everything I said before, I love him so much, I can't bear to hurt him, and I can't bear to be without him. If I leave him I might really regret it later in my life, and think why could I not settle for someone who I love and trust, and who loves me, just because I basically think I could do better. I might end up with someone with a great career but who is not loyal.

We have talked about some of this stuff a little. He is aware that I want to do things with my life and that I may well move. He said the solution is he would come with me. I don't know if he actually would because I know he wants to stay here forever. I said it might not work because I might be moving around for a while until I get a stable career and he said he would still stay with me. I asked him what would happen if I decided that it wouldn't work and he said I can't leave him now unless he has done something wrong, like it's not good enough to just say the relationship is not going anywhere now. I asked him what he would do if I did leave him and he said he would be heart broken and said he would kill himself, jokingly, but the fact he said this worries me.

Has anyone been in a similar position and have any advice? I'm not sure what to do.
