A friend of mine just told me that he had two affairs more than 35 years ago. He and wife have been married for 42 years. He has been going to church for the past few years and now wants to admit to his wife what happened back then.
He said she never knew, but might have suspected. I asked him if he was admitting for her sake or for his. Who was going to benefit from the confession.
I told him not to tell her. they have a good marriage and all is going well. There kids are married and they have grandchildren. There is no way anyone will tell his wife about his affairs. The two women have a lot to loose if it comes out. Confession may be good for his soul, but not for hers is the way I view it.
I'd like discuss it with my wife, but she knows both and it wouldn't be fair to bring her into the situation.
