Why am I crushing in a guy that's so popular?

I'm friends with a guy who I find super attractive, he's genuine and very kind to me, when I know he's fake with other girls. It would be perfect, but he's popular and I'm oh so definitely not. I started snapchatting him a few days ago, and he was sending me topless ones which was erm nice. But now it says I'm his best friend on there, so hopefully people will see that and start accepting me I'm slowly moving up the popularity ladder starting sixth form soon and I've got new friends.
