Daughter being bullied by girls at school, please offer advice.

Hi ladies, I am desperately in need of your advice. My daughter has always had an issue of bullying by other girls. They would pick on her, call her ugly, etc. etc. In particular are 3 girls that are particularly mean. I've hazard a guess it is partly because she is very intelligent and very pretty and even looks much older than she is. She also has Asperger's so social interaction can be very difficult, she doesn't really get non-verbal communication well at all. As such it's easy for other girls to trick her only to make fun of her or humiliate her. But now that she's disabled it's got even worse! The other day in class while the teacher was out, one of the aforementioned girls started wheeling her around in circles in her wheel chair and everyone started laughing. Then they started calling her "the one armed girl" among other things. As you can imagine when my daughter came back from school bawling her eyes out I was furious and contacted the school and talked to the principal. The principal told me she'd look into it but honestly I don't think much will get done. Even in the past nothing has really been done. I am very upset. Is it just me or is girl-on-girl bullying not taken as seriously as boy-on-boy? Now she keeps saying she doesn't want to go back to school because of the mean girls and I'm at a loss what to do next. Please help, I love my daughter so much and hate to see her go through this.
