For the first time this mother's day I actually wrote a sizeable message to my mum in her card.
It was only a few lines, but she was genuinely shocked.
It's not that I don't love or appreciate her, but I just:
(a) don't see the point in cards to people I see all the time anyway. I basically only do it so that I don't offend -
(b) Find it very hard to write the 'mushy' "You mean so much to me" stuff that some people write.
I do tell her I love her all the time, though, so I don't know really.
Whereas I can't remember the last time I told my dad I love him, or visa versa (though we both know we do)
Even when it comes to my wife/long term partner, I just can't see myself writing mushy messages on her birthday (despite the fact that I will feel those emotions)
Same goes for my future daughter or son. I can imagine that their mother will do the writing, just as my mum writes a joint message (for both her and my dad) in cards for me and my siblings.
It's not that I'm not capable of putting it into words, it's just that I find it kinda weird.
What about you guys?
Is it a guy thing? Or do just as many girls find it weird?
I do know some women who are the same as me with cards, but I know very few men who are great at those long messages.
They always come across slightly condescending, cheesy and cliché to me (though it's usually how you do actually feel)...
I dunno.

Put the internet to work for you.
