Chronicles of a Wasted Life

Apologies in advance for the long post. This has been building up for a while. You can skip to the last paragraph if you don't want to read the whole thing.

MARRIAGE #1

So, some back story. In 1996, I got married very young, at 20, to a woman I met online. We can call her Lauren. It sounds crazy now, but back in the day, nobody had ever done this before. We were Internet pioneers. We spent entire days chatting or talking on the phone, sometimes for four to six hours a day, which is significantly longer than most dates. Our courtship was many hundreds of hours and we got to know each other really well. I was deeply in love with her and decided I wanted to move in with her.

Problem #1 was that I was not attracted to her physically. She sent me a picture after we got to know each other and I was a little taken aback. She was about 100 pounds overweight. I had already fallen in love with who she was as a person, though, so I decided not to be superficial and not let it bother me. Problem #2 was that she was 16 years older than me. Again, though, I felt like worrying about the age gap would be shallow of me.

We occasionally argued and bickered, and there were plenty of things she did that annoyed the hell out of me—but I knew that to some degree, marriage was about compromise and that there are some things you just learn to tolerate. She was always making pop culture references from her generation that I just couldn't relate to, though, and people were constantly mistaking her for my mom instead of my wife. Well, live and learn.

We had two kids. I worked while she stayed home, and I somehow made enough money to support us all. Whenever I got home from work, or on my days off, she disappeared into the bedroom to watch television and I did the majority of the child care.

Eventually, though, I got to the point where I was just miserable every day. I was constantly discovering new ways she'd lied to me. When we were courting, she sent me a demo tape she'd made, and I fell in love with her voice. Years later, I found the record album she'd copied it from, so it hadn't even been her voice to begin with. Also, I found some posts she'd left on a message board, talking about how she had faked every single orgasm she'd ever had with me—bragging that she was the "world's greatest actor, but nobody knows it! Hee hee!"

So, I felt betrayed and deceived. I was angry with her and was at a point where I didn't want to spend any time with her at all. This is a vast simplification of my feelings towards her. In the back of my mind, I always told myself that I wouldn't do to my kids what my parents did to me. I held this ideal that I would not divorce under any circumstances. I was placing the sanctity of the marriage, the completeness of the family unit, before my own happiness, and it was killing me. I'd invested nine years of my life with this woman and I didn't want to start over, and yet I didn't want to spend the rest of my life being miserable.

THE AFFAIR

In 2004, I met this girl at work (we can call her Brenda) who took a liking to me. We had some of the same problems (she was also stuck in a marriage in which she was deeply unhappy; she said once she'd only married him so she wouldn't be alone) and could relate to each other. We were about the same age and she was cute and only carrying a few extra pounds. Long story short, we got very close and started to wonder what it would be like if we got together. I was totally caught up in the emotional aspect of the affair but I also tried to keep my head and approach the situation logically. Was I prepared to end my marriage to be with this woman? How would it affect the kids? I decided that my children would not benefit from me continuing to live with a woman I hated. I still harbor horrible memories of my parents' worst fights and no child should have to endure that.

Judge me if you want. I made the decision that I felt was right for me. I don't deserve to be miserable just for the sake of holding onto some lofty ideal. Also, Brenda and I are a success story. They say that less than one percent of affairs ever make it as long-term relationships, and yet here we are, ten years later.

MARRIAGE #2

The kids from my first marriage loved Brenda. Their mom actually got upset that the kids would come home after visits and talked about how they loved her so much. I tried to make the visits with the kids special, but my ex-wife started complaining that I was being a "Disneyland daddy." When I stopped, though, she just started complaining that the kids came over and I just sat on my ass watching TV with them or whatever.

Sex with Brenda was amazing! She was ravenous and enthusiastic and willing to do anything in bed... including things that my ex-wife refused to do. If I ever had trouble getting ready for her, all she had to do was go down on me and that always did the trick. It was great for her, too... she said sex always hurt her during her first marriage, but I think it was just because she was tense. I taught her that sex wasn't supposed to hurt, and she got to the point where she couldn't get enough of me.

Brenda and I eventually had two kids of our own. I think that's when things started to fall apart. I love them very much, but having kids changed our relationship inexorably. We had about two years to ourselves, and during that time she was fun to be with and sexually insatiable. I totally get that this was the "honeymoon phase" in our relationship and a bit of a decline was inevitable. The decline was unexpectedly steep, though. After Brenda got pregnant the first time, she suddenly hated to be touched at all. When the baby was born, we were both constantly sleep-deprived and cranky. When Danny got older, tending to him basically became my responsibility. I already had experience raising two kids, after all. She has even admitted recently that I did about 95% of his child care. More often than not, she would yell at him to be quiet while she watched TV, and I would retire with him to the play room to get him out of her hair.

Three years ago she wanted to have another baby, and I would always joke that it was her turn to take care of the next one. That never really panned out, though. Sometimes I feel like I'm a live-in babysitter. She goes out with friends to movies, or goes to book club with her mom, or goes to PTA meetings or HOA meetings, and I'm always stuck at home. I've been taking care of kids for half my lifetime and there comes a point where it's exhausting.

The biggest problem I'm having right now is a near-complete lack of sex. Usually once in a 30-60 day period. She has virtually no libido. She is a bottomless well of excuses. She doesn't like feeling squishy afterwards; she's afraid the kids will walk in; she's stressed out from work; I said something earlier in the day to upset her; etc. I have tried multiple approaches. For a while we had a "sex jar" where I had filled out slips of paper describing the things I'd like her to do with me (example: "wait until Bob is in the shower and then join him and seduce him!") and she played along for a little while. She would offer to draw a slip from the jar if I did one of her chores or helped her with a project. Eventually, the slips just piled up and never got fulfilled.

She's on birth control, which I've read can affect her chemistry and cause a low sex drive. She's tried several different ones, but some of them make her feel sick. The other day I just suggested that she get off birth control altogether. Seems like kind of a waste since there's not really anything to control right now anyway. With that said, I really don't want a third child with her.

She says that she's always available for me, but when I initiate sex, she just lays there and waits for it to be over. It's essentially me masturbating, but using her body instead of my hand. So, I suggest that she initiate sex every once in a while, but to her, it's a chore. It's like doing laundry or washing dishes—just one more thing on her to-do list she has to check off. I would like for her to actually desire me, not just lay there while I finish inside her.

Also, she's recently said that sex hurts her and that she doesn't look forward to it. So, basically it's like being with her ex-husband all over again. We've noticed that she's much tighter when it's been a long time, so I think that's one of the reasons. I feel like we're going backwards instead of forwards, though.

She also told me about a year ago that she no longer wants to give me oral sex. Her reasoning for this varies. One time she said that it hurts her jaw. Another time, she said that it makes her gag. Once she told me that she's "just not a go-down-there kind of girl." Funny, considering she was a go-down-there girl when we were having our affair. In her car, in her bed, on the stairs. (In case you're wondering, I would go down on her every day, but lately she's been squeamish about it and has decided she doesn't like it. Again, excuses abound. She's worried she's not clean enough; she's too sensitive; I haven't shaved that day; etc. etc.)

I have never insisted that she let me ejaculate in her mouth. I seriously don't even care if she finishes me off or not. I view going down on me as a loving, intimate act and it bothers me that she's suddenly dug her heels into the ground and decided she doesn't do it anymore. I've read a lot of forums similar to this one and this seems like a really common theme. Woman freely fellates her man while they're dating, and as soon as they get married, she decides it's no longer necessary. Honestly, this makes me want to just up and stop doing things, too. "Oh, sorry. I know I used to clean the cat's litter box, but I don't do that anymore. I'm just not a scoop-the-poop kind of guy."

We talked about this subject once and it got really heated. "Oh, so if I don't suck you, is that a dealbreaker or something?! You're going to go find somebody else to suck you instead?!"

I don't really want our relationship to end. She's funny and intelligent and we get along really well. Aside from the lack of sex, I'm not unhappy with our relationship. Speaking from a strictly practical standpoint, I'm pushing 40 and I really don't want to have to start my life over for a third time. I would hate to think that ten years is just my time frame for relationships. I just want to feel desired on some level. Sometimes I want to ask her if I can just have sex with somebody else so she won't have to worry about it any longer.

So, assuming my goal is to salvage this relationship, what is the best course of action? Is it wishful thinking to ever believe that she will express sexual desire for me in the future? How and why does a woman go from being insatiable to being completely frigid? The complete 180-degree turn she made on oral sex is particularly perplexing. Thanks in advance for reading, and for whatever insight you can provide.

No more Patience only apathy and resentment.

I love my wife and I want to find a way to reconnect but a few months ago my patience with her ended and I have been honest with how I feel for the first time in a long while and its tearing us apart.

My wife does not work.

My wife does not keep the house clean( I do my part in not helping, but work 40 hours a week, and during tax season have two jobs)

My wife and I do not have any kids together,(I have 9 year old from previous, she has 5 year old, neither gets along great with EX, we get along better with her EX then we do with mine) Kids get along great.

Things were ok until we moved and rent increased $450 a month. Before then we had enough money but we both wanted to move closer to where are kids other half's lived.

At the time we agreed that we could only move if she could make $400 a month, in other words pay for groceries. We moved and she started the first real job that she had ever had. Started making $2000 a month. Did the math and new we could pay off X bills if she could work for 6 months with that extra income. She lasted 60 days. Got let go for calling out too many times.

Fast forward two years. She hasn't made $400 in a month more than a hand full of times and about 6 months ago I declared bankruptcy. I don't blame her for the bankruptcy. I blame myself for not putting my foot down sooner.

I don't know what to call it, maybe patience, but i didn't stress just how upsetting her not working was making me. I kept it bottled up inside, distanced myself. Which in turn led her to being unfaithful. Just how unfaithful I will never know. At worst, full blown affair. At best inappropriate facebook/texting communication. It bothers me everyday but I watch too much porn so I understand wanting some outside fantasy. Either way not a deal breaker, it is one thing I believe we have been able to talk about honestly and have mostly moved past it.

Now i have a fuse that is so short I could explode for the smallest things. I have even said "I have no more patience for you". In my mind the pattern goes something like this....

"We don't have any kids together, you turned down child support from your EX, while I pay mine a small fortune, you aren't keeping the house clean, you aren't working, you cheated on me and you regularly talk back to me, not too mention you get physical when we argue, just give me one reason to look at you like your aren't completely useless"

Sounds terrible, right? Why am I still married?

I was a Marine. I have been to Iraq. I have a full time time job. I am a christian, I like to think of myself as a good person. I am also a procrastintor (should be cleaning right now), my personal hygiene is like I am still in the Marines, and impulsive. I also have lied when faced with questions from my wife that I don't feel she has any right to ask. Such as did you "mastrubate today", or "did you put on deodarant". I would never put myself in a situation where i had to lie about where i was or who i was with or anything not related to something in my opinion that was trivial"

I understand how frustrated she may be with a few of my faults and I wouldn't have a problem addressing them in a kind way, like I did for so long.

But now, my reaction is "who are you to tell me how to live my life" I bit my tounge for years, thinking there is no good in bashing someone for there faults, accept someone for who they are. If you don't have anything nice to day, don't say anything at all. That was my motto. But it wasn't patience, it was apathy. I was pretending that the things she did/does didn't bother me.

Then I woke up. It was gradually but she had so many hurtful things to me, that one day i joined the fight. I told her the truth, that she is a child in a women's body, with no idea how to care for herself. Called her an awful person, selfish spoiled brat. Talked to her parents who blamed themselves for spoiling her and seemed to understand my frustrations.

No one but my closest friends knows this much. My family is concerned but their bias towards me makes them useless to talk to. While my friends think I'm crazy for putting up with it.

I'm not putting up with it anymore. "Get a job, clean the house, stop talking back, bear me a child, worship the lord" Pick one, do something with your life that has value greater than yourself." Give me a reason to choose to love you again.

I believe love is a choice

Funny thing is. The more I push the issue, the more grownup responses i see. She is now actively looking for work the way she should be, She is now cleaning the house more. She is talking back less. But until I see consistency, i am stuck in my temperant of resentment. I am hopeful that will change in the future.

But until then how do i live with her like this? I think the best thing for her would be to separate. Let her become independent, but even that is impractical as she has nowhere to go. She is stuck, she knows it. I am stuck, I know it.

In summary. I feel like I am lying if I show her any patience because the only way I know how to do that is by being indifferent, uncaring, and losing all desire to be with her.

There has to be a better way!:frown2:

Is she weirded out by me / doesn't like me?

  • Thread Starter

A girl i know, it's always seems awkward when we're alone. It's like she doesn't know what to say and to be honest I don't. Although I do try and make a point to talk but she sort of either just laughs politely or answers short, very rarely she has a good conversation. I don't know if it's me coming across as weird or whatever but in a group she's more open. I noticed with other people when I'm not there she's loud, laughing and and seems normal, then with me she's more reserved. She was in a room alone with me, and I decided to not say anything to see if she would start a conversation.. she didn't. I'm a quiet guy and she's a little shy but not all the time, it's weird. She also sometimes seems self concious when I'm around. I also noticed we were in a group, she was in my line of sight and she seemed self concious, adjusting her clothes, she's done this before and then she moved so she wasn't in my line of sight. She also some days, pulls her hair or touch her f ace when I'm talking, not everyday though.I don't think she dislikes me, although I maybe wrong, I'm a bit confused as to her behaviour, maybe she's intimdated by me? Or does actually dislike me, or weirded out by me.
Also rarely looks me in the eyes, when I'm talking to her she mostly looks elsewhere or if I look at her she look down or away

I don't call myself a feminist...and I get hate for it.

  • Thread Starter

Okay, so I absolutely believe that women and men should have equal rights and opportunities. But I never have and never will call myself a feminist. I don't think there's anything remotely dirty about the word. My reticence about the term 'feminist' is purely because I believe that there should not be a specific term for agreeing with the claim that men and women should have equal rights...to me that's just being a decent human being. But I feel that I get hate from some of my fellow female friends and students because of this. Why do CERTAIN outspoken feminists (particularly those of the 18-25 age bracket) have such hatred and venom for women like themselves who absolutely agree that women should have the same rights as men, but simply do not want to define themselves by the term 'feminist'. Genuine question here. And no, I'm not making generalisations...I've not said that all feminists have hatred for those who choose not to call themselves feminists.

My mother tried to touch me?

  • Thread Starter

I'm 19 years old, and at a young age (6-9)my mum would touch me inappropriately from the chest to where my genitals were. She used to tell me that I shouldn't let anyone besides her touch me in this way. I thought it was normal because I was young and naive.

She eventually stopped but then when I was 16, she tried to touch my breasts when we sat in the bus. Obviously I was scared so I started avoiding her, but then I got into an argument with my parents because she insisted I was crazy for not wanting to sleep in the same bed with her.

After that incident and now at the age of 19, she asked me 'has your boyfriend touched your breasts? Because you shouldn't let him'
It was really creepy and I don't know who to turn for help, because no one in my family knows this and I'm worried to go to my friends.

I know this sounds ****ed up, but I'm not financially stable to move out either :(

Confused about wife's emotional affairs...

So my wife and I have been hitting a few rough patches and I have been quiet about it lately as I really don't know what to do in the situation.

A bit of background (sorry long read :/):

I have always been a long term relationship guy. Even my college days. I always wanted to spend my life with someone who cares for me and I care for them. Every break up I been through has been girls at different points in their life where they move away or are at a changing period and sort of life moving us in other directions. I have been contacted by ex's in the past who want to be together again, but again life moved in other directions. I eventually met my wife and it seemed everything clicked.
My wife and I first met 5-6 years ago when I was unemployed and just starting my career. We dated after she got divorced from a cheating husband and eventually became serious… and she stuck with me and we stuck together through the early year hard times. During these times on the side she worked as a model outside of her normal career path. She would do all sorts of modeling shoots and some artistic nudes, but they were always done on a professional level. She enjoyed the attention as it boosted her ego and helped with some emotional issues for her. As my career accelerated we eventually moved and then moved in together and then got married/bought a house. She eventually dropped her modeling past time as the money really wasn't needed and we had other focuses.

She has always kept in touch with old friends and ex's online and this never really bothered me as it was more of just keeping in touch and chatting about random things. She didn't hide it or anything and was open about her communications.

As time progressed she started to get the itch and talked with me about it and she wanted to pick up the hobby again. She eventually met a photographer in the area who wanted to do a shoot with her. Things fell through and the photographer would randomly send messages out to her and chat. Over time they were chatting every day.

One day I saw some of the messages pop up and it was basically him hitting on her very sexually. (This guy is married) I couldn't help but look. They had conversations about completely random topics, and then he would just hit on her – asking her things like if I am showering would you get my back? Along with other random stuff. He mentioned how he saw her and I at a store once and she looked hot basically admiring from afar. She would ignore those lines in the conversations and keep communicating and changing the topic. Eventually they were talking about doing face time etc as the guy was going through medical issues and she was curious. She ended up staying late after work one day face timing with him in the parking lot – and then later she made an excuse to go to another room and was face timing with him shirtless. I walked in on them and she quickly shut it down.

I confronted her about it. I was extremely hurt. I felt like my whole world was being torn asunder in a blink of an eye from some random guy in the area I have never met projecting his own inadequacies on others filling his hollow shell by reaching out to other women.

At first she was apologetic saying she loved me more than anything in life and she would never cheat on me. I said some cheating is more than emotional than physical and she again said nothing physical would ever happen and she is not emotionally invested in this guy. She said I cannot control who she can and cannot be friends with and I agreed but I asked for open clarity on what's going on in these situations. She said chatting with him gave her confidence and helped her ego and she got this from her other friends online/modeling in the past. She wasn't interested in him at all and it was just chatting and she did nothing wrong. Days later she approached me on it and yelled at me I don't trust her. She said I am one of the worst people in the world for snooping accidentally. She also went off how I never have anything to worry about and now she feels hurt I approached her about this. She discussed how I potentially have an inferiority complex and I am projecting it on her as being needy and untrusting. She asked if I want a divorce to which I said no I want to work this out. I told her I don't trust him and this situation is just really really weird. I said the facetime thing is too much connection, she said she facetimes everyone as its fun (WE never facetimed and I never seen her do it before). I asked we go to therapy and work it out and she said no as with her previous marriage it didn't work. Eventually things settled down and she drifted away from talking to him. She kept chatting with some of her other old friends and things sort of got peaceful again.

I still felt hurt overall. I felt like I am always the bad guy. I started to question if I was crazy in this situation and being overly possessive. I felt like a level of trust was broken for me and I always kept wondering what was really going on. Did I just need to take it at face value? For peace I just left it as it was done. As she was chatting with some of her friends months later she told one of her ex's I love you back in a message. This guy is out of state and married with kids but they apparently helped each other remotely through hard times throughout their lives. I eventually said nothing and shrugged it off as well people can love more than one person in their life time – and thinking about it I still love some of my old relationships but we have moved on and away from each other – they just happened to keep and touch and love each other as friends. There was nothing dirty or sexual ever said between them so this didn't bother me.

Again things calmed down for months and we were extremely happy. Going out and doing things together. We even started to play PC games together again. That's when guy number 2 happened…

As we were playing an online game we ended up joining a guild because this charismatic friendly person grouped with us. We were still learning the game and having tons of fun together. The guy who befriended both of us was in the guild with his GF at the time. Eventually we would all jump into voice chat together and progress in the game as a group.

One night next to me I heard my wife typing frantically at her keys. I asked her as question and she did not reply. When I glanced over I saw the guy sending private messages to her in the game talking about what he would want to do with her/asking for more pics etc. I instantly dropped a "WTF?" and approached her about it. Apparently she sent a link to her modeling account and they guy loved the pictures. He was showering her with complements and chatting on the side with her about it for the past week in the game. He was saying things like he would love to do oral, can she send him a P***y shot, and she was replying back she's not into that. She said he's just some super younger kid out of state and it made her feel good to be wanted by more people. I checked my wife's modeling profile and she had a new friend online – sure enough he was some right out of high school kid. My wife started joking with me asking if I was jealous of this younger man hitting on her. I replied yes and I think it's inappropriate. Things got weird again and she then stated how I don't trust her again. She said I don't have self confidence in myself or our relationship. Again she started asking if I want a divorce etc and I am blowing things out of proportion as obviously things would never get physical and this was just added entertainment to her.

Days later I was at work and she was online playing. I was still furious and anxious and wondering what was going on. When I checked some external tools to see what they were all doing in the guild it showed them in completely different zones and the guy was doing stuff with his girlfriend in the game.

Eventually interest died all around and they stopped chatting on the side and we ended up leaving the game later.

A few weeks after this my work was having an external event and everyone was invited. My wife went out and bought new clothing for it and was really excited for this dressed up event at a really impressive venue. She wanted to be my arm candy as she put it and was really excited.

The day of the event she had a depression streak. I needed to go to the event as I lined everything up with co-workers and bosses for it. I stayed with her and she started saying how the world sucks, our marriage sucks and going into further depression and yelling at me and our relationship and divorce and killing herself and everything else under the sun. She eventually told me fine just go and I left for the event as I felt I was doing what I needed to do. I also felt I was taking a bit of a stand for myself because this was only going to be negative with me staying home and she was constantly cutting into me and our relationship verbally. The moment I got to the venue she sent me multiple texts she hates me, I am the worst person in the world. After glancing at it – I didn't want to ruin my evening further and ignored my phone. When I got home I found myself locked out. We exchanged a series of texts and she was basically along the lines of because I didn't support her in her time of need I don't deserve to come home. She continued to say she hated me and us. After an hour of exchanging very hateful words via text I eventually went and crashed at a friends place.

The next day she text me saying well I guess I need to legally let you in some time. I went home.

When I got there she hasn't left the bedroom in 24 hours. We eventually talked and it was sort of an episode of depression and her main thing was that she didn't want me to leave when she needs me. I don't have to be right there with her but she wants me around the house when she has these emotional surges. I told her that's fine, but I really want her to think about what she says next time. The next day as we are chatting she mentions she made an online friend to talk to while I was out. She says she put a craigslist ad up for a chat buddy. I ask about this and what's the situation. It's an older local guy and she showed me some of the chats and they were all normal. The guy is having a baby with his girlfriend and they are just sort of anonymous chatters who can bounce things off each other. This time they are communicating via Kik as it's more anonymous and I won't see/get frustrated with the situation. They both agree they are never meeting up as a mutual friendship via online is agreeable…
I really don't know how I feel about this and eventually say fine and we move on.

Currently:

Things are going great again, my unease/trust issues are slowly improving over time. I have more confidence, she has more confidence and tells me I am the best thing that ever happened to her. I get promoted again at work and we are starting to look into having a baby and its been about 6 months down the road. She's not really devoting time to chatting with anyone, our house time is more spent with each other.

That brings us to this past week:

While we were hanging out after a long work day for us both, she starts asking me about how I feel about monogamy. I say I find it to be really the pinnacle of connection with someone in a relationship. She then starts to talk about human nature and cheaters. I told her I don't believe cheaters are normal people – I strongly feel that they have an innate internal problem where they reach out for self-validation. This causes a dopamine effect much like an addict. They get a rush from this and feel they have to repeat the process to feel normal. I then went into how this is sort of like recovering addicts – they are never the same person as they know there is this chemical rush reward mechanism right around the corner they can reach out to and it's always a monkey on their back.

She ended up getting quiet in this discussion and went back to her phone. She then says she was discussing this topic with her friend online and she was agreeing with me.

A few min later she is sitting next to me and on her phone pops up something from the guy about how hes trying to be good and how hard he is…

I immediately say "Uhh…. Wtf" she instantly snaps at me "No". She then types out this long reply about monogamy and how it's awesome to her etc. She then turns to me and tells me she was discussing with this dude the topic we just mentioned and they were debating it. I just don't say anything.

The next day I spend really questioning myself again. If I make it a big deal it will be a problem. If I don't react and remain confident it will probably die out? I also have zero context for the rest of the conversations. I feel I should just trust and keep moving forward for the peace and stability. I spend hours in my head though going over the 'wtf' scenario again. Why is he saying that? Why does she just change the topic and not just end it when a boundary is crossed? What is our relationship missing for her to do this? Does she care about how I feel at all? That night she's a bit more snippy about some things. She gets home and sits in her car before coming in. She says she does this because she needs a personal time to unwind, it makes me anxious but she does do this often. Eventually we are on the couch relaxing again and she is browsing things online, we are sharing jokes etc. At one point she turns away and starts texting the guy again. It's very brief and not super time consuming so I ignore it. Eventually we go to bed. I wake up much earlier and she does and we both like going to bed together to snuggle and she watches tv in the bedroom while I sleep. Tonight she is on her phone. I let her know I am laying down and she just says "ok". She's browsing medical topics of interest and reading articles. It's getting late now and past the normal time she snuggles up next to me. I keep laying there running through things in my head again debating if I say something or not, but eventually just get up and go to the bathroom. I glace over at her and shes texting the dude again who yesterday said hes trying to be good and hes hard etc. I just flat out don't know what to do – I am instantly filled with rage and wtf again but I just lay back down and turn away. She says to me go back to sleep etc I need energy for work tomorrow, but I lay there and keep shuffling around wtf is going on next to me? I don't lay in bed chatting with friends. I have no clue what they are chatting about at this point.

Eventually I keep shuffling around and she blurts out fine I am laying down etc and we go to bed. I again shuffle around and can't sleep the entire night.

This brings me to now – at this state I feel like I am going emotionally numb. I don't want to fight this battle anymore. There is no evidence she has ever done anything behind my back – but she loves the attention of other people and sort of just keeps chatting along and it doesn't matter with who.

I feel there were some trust levels broken and some emotional manipulation – and any time I bring anything up I am the bad guy. I just don't know what to do. It's like being married to two people. One is very sweet and loving and praises me for my efforts and our marriage and is loving, the other is the attention craver that will say the most hurtful things in the world, drops the D-Day words, dismisses me and tells me what I am feeling. I just don't know what to do. I asked if we have problems and she says no, I asked if there's counseling we can do and she says no everything is fine but the way I am reacting to this external communication/validation thing.

...Well I confronted her about it last night in a non-threatening, here are the logical concerns - this is bugging me - wtf way.

She assured me nothing is going on at all in this situation. She kept saying she just likes talking to different people through social media as it gives an outlet and perspective and she loves me and would never threaten our relationship. I brought up the past things and she said this isn't like that at all and she doesn't talk to those people anymore etc.

She handed me her phone and opened the app conversation and showed it all to me. It all seemed normal except the lines that we saw and I exclaimed about on the couch are now gone... she also said she wasn't texting from the bed the other night and said she was on other sites and looking things up... I reiterated what I/we saw from the messages and she denied it happening and then said oh it must have been about how this guy is trying to be good studying but it is hard etc. I didn't have my glasses on but flat out I didn't see the messages I swear I saw the other day… She also said you cannot delete messages in the app. She then also denied texting from the bedroom the other night and she was up browsing and reading things.

She kept reassuring/trying to comfort me and fell asleep holding me and made an off handed comment during another conversation with self-degrading remark about well she's a ***** etc. I told her I didn't want to hear it and don't know what to think.

This morning I looked up the app details and in older versions – yes you could not delete messages. You can now in its current versions.
I don't know wtf to think. I basically said this is really odd and left it so i could sleep as it was basically 5 hours until I had to be up for work.

I want there to be a smoking gun - boom here you go correct this or done or something along those lines but there isn't. There's sketchy behavior some past things and my memory. At this point – I think I will talk to a lawyer friend for advisement. It seems like I almost need to wait for something to happen again. If she comes and directs blame at me for talking to her last night I am going to call her out of the App being able to delete messages and I know what I saw (again) but can't prove.

TLDR: Wife having multiple emotional affairs with other men for self comfort - when I try to talk about or do anything she denies everything, covers the evidence and slowly manipulates me.

I Regret leaving early and now i feel depressed (thread may be hard to understand)

  • Thread Starter

Anon please

I was a Leader at a summer camp and whilst i was a favourite with the children (aged 10-16). I left early due to social anxiety and depression and not getting along with my colleagues. i was meant to do two weeks at this place and go to another site later this month.

I'm angry because i came home a week early, i forgot (bizzarely) that i don't get along with my family and i get bullied by them. Now i'm home, in depressing London, feeling sad and angry and getting the *******ing again from my parents.

I didn't want to do this but i had no friendship with my colleagues. I felt that i was constantly undermined by staff, i was getting pissed off that they made an 18 year old sixth former guy the camp manager (and power really got into his head), I felt there was a power struggle with my co-leaders (working with a specific age group), Conversations were awkward around me, i think i was almost falling in love with a colleague (I get pissed when i like a girl because i have social anxiety) and etc etc.

I only enjoyed working with the children, i was one of their FAVOURITE, I never knew i could enjoy a job for the first time but unforunately i had to stop this early because i worried the children would know that i was a loner and my colleagues asking very offensive personal question. I know i'm going back again later this month in a different but i have no plans what to do this week as if i was to continue this week in the camp, the other week (which would have been my week off ) would have been better planned.

My anxiety is evil and i just wish i had better relationships with people. I'm fed up as being seen as the loner. I am praying that hoping to go to uni this year i will probably hide in my room and come out at night since i'm allergic to people.

What should i do now; i know my dad will be calling me a loner in a few hours. Should i ask for extra vacancies from the job to actually go away for two weeks?? I'm really anxious at home as i type.

Don't know how to feel about this guy

  • Thread Starter

Hiya,
This may sound so stupid but I just needed to let put this down in writing somewhere. Basically me and this guy started talking on kik, and eventually exchanged numbers.

We've only spoken for 6 weeks, but our conversations weren't the average 'hi, bye' convos, it was more deep, intimate what have you, like I could feel a real connection and he made me feel a different kind of way (nothing sexual) - I just felt comfortable talking to him and he was like the best friend I never had. We would stay up until sunrise talking about anything and everything - he made e feel alive.

Anyhoo, recently he's been acting cold towards me, like the conversations we have aren't as 'fiery' anymore - like you know when the conversation just feels forced and you want them to just talk to you like normal but don't want to seem clingy or annoying.

He sent me a message, basically saying something along the lines of 'I wish you all the best for the future' and so I replied saying if he intended to bid farewell, that I'm glad to have met him. I went on whatsapp and realised that he had deleted/blocked me (profile picture, last seen and status all gone), so I sent him a message explaining myself and that from a female's perspective, it just felt like he was giving me the cold shoulder and wanted to part ways and that I still want to be friends and that if he needed someone to talk to, then I'd happily lend a listening ear.

Assuming I'd been blocked on whatsapp, I decided to send him an iMessage where he has read receipts turned on - but now only the 'Delivered' message shows up - either I've been blocked completely or he simply hasn't read the message (I'm just hoping it's the latter)

I don't even know how to feel - we weren't girlfriend/boyfriend per se, but I had hopes that our friendship would 'blossom' into something further - I just feel somewhat heartbroken that I 'lost' someone that I got on well with and who made an impact in my life (despite the short time we spoke for)

It's just weird knowing all these little things about someone and then you stop talking, then now it's like you have all this leftover information about them

Is it even normal to feel like this? Has anyone been in a similar situation?

I don't really understand this guy. Someone give me insight please.

So a little more than a year ago, I started to speak to this guy online and we got on as friends (nothing sexual). I was in a relationship then so although he asked for my number, I declined. As time went on, we would only talk to each other every now and then - just chit chat. Like a little catch up once in a while.

Recently we've been in contact more so when he asked for my number I gave it (also no longer in a relationship). A few weeks ago, as I was out with some friends and he was nearby, I invited him and we hung out. This was our first time to meet but we were comfortable with each other. I got drunk but he was nice and took care of me and dropped me home.

Since then he texts me everyday but it's a little weird. He'll start a conversation just saying things like morning and I'll reply and I won't get a reply for ages. So I think to just leave it but then he'll send another message later in the day and then go awol too. So essentially there's no proper conversation? This is happening every day. So he's in touch yet it's empty.

I thought he may like me a little from some things he's said and since I had a nice time hanging out with him when we were out with friends, Id invited him over to hang today earlier in the week. He hadn't committed saying we could decide nearer to the time and that's fine. He's continued to be in touch every day since but never really declined or accepted. I didn't want to ask again because the offer was already open and today I just get a random message saying he's travelling out of city but no acknowledgement of my initial invite like "sorry I didn't get back to you before etc"

Just a bit confused. I did think he had liked me but now think I'm just seen as a friend. That's fine but what's the deal with the empty texting? Boredom?

What to tell kid about separation when it's sex related

After 24 years together, my husband has decided to move out because of my LD issues. What reason do you give a 9 year old that we are separating because my husband wants to get laid more? His exact terms. I really can't lie and say it's because we are fighting alot and want a peaceful household because that's not true. We argue on occasion, but nothing crazy. My husband just wants more sex and is not willing to work it out with me anymore.
