I would never let my bloke wear these!

  • Thread Starter

Watching football with my bloke last night and one of the players shorts rip to reveal the most hideous white y-fronts. I started laughing and told him we would be history if he ever wore underwear like that. He said these were normal for lads playing sport, but I've only ever seen guys our age wearing boxers.

I need advice

Hi! I just joined. Here is an outline of my marriage. I could really use some advice.

Married for 22 years and have two daughters (15 and 11).

I check off a lot on the "Are You Being Emotionally Abused" checklist. My husband is very hard to live with and has very diverse mood swings. He is mostly negative and angry all of the time. Although he self medicates with mj and then he is fine. He also has alcohol abuse issues. Drinks a lot by himself several times a week. His mood changes when he drinks and he is even worse to me when he is drunk. He treats me like he hates me and does this in front of our kids. He tries to discredit me and make me look like I am a bad person in front of my kids. He is always in competition with me to try to convince the kids that he knows better than me. I don't participate in this behaviour. I am a very passive person and I don't want to argue especially in front of the kids. He tries to make me out to be this horrible person to our kids but my kids are so amazing - they know this is not true. Our kids love both of us but we all walk on eggshells when he is raging which is quite often. He plays the victim. My 15 year old doesn't fall for this but my 11 year old feels sorry for him because he always complains about his awful life even though he has a great life. He complains about everything and especially me. He tells me to shut up and to mind my own business. He is very controlling. I could go on but I think you get the picture. The thing is, this started pretty much right after we got married. I saw disturbing signs of his abuse. I didn't understand why he was always getting so mad at me for something that I didn't do. At first, I would just do everything to try to make whatever better. Now, over the years, I have had to protect myself by simply detaching from him and carrying on with my life. I have a very busy life with working full time and then taking our kids to all of their extracurricular activities. He doesn't seem to have much luck finding work so has a lot of time on his hands which is not good. I live my life and my kids but I really don't like the person that my husband is. When I first got pregnant which was 16 years ago, I cried to a month because even at that time I was having serious thoughts that he was not the person I wanted to be with. But then we got preoccupied with our new wonderful child and then another one came and before you know it 22 years go by. My parents divorced when I was 16 and it was so hard for me that I would never want my kids to go through what I did. But on the other hand, I have two daughters who see how badly he treats me and I know that this is not good either. I just want to do what is best for our kids. We have a big house and my husband sleeps and pretty much lives downstairs and me and our two daughters live upstairs. We haven't been intimate for several years. I must say that because we have such a big house, we can both live in it relatively peacefully but I feel so lonely and empty without having a person to love me. I see old people walk ing together holding hands and know that I will never have that. Can anyone give me any advice or share their thoughts. I just want the best for our kids.

Setting boundaries, then breaking them

Hi all,

first post so please be gentle :)

Been married 17yrs and have 2 kids.

Over time, bringing a family up has put strain on our marriage. Wife and I both work full time in stressful jobs.

We did not spend much time together. About 4 months ago I aked to meet my wife for lunch but she turned me down and said that she wanted to spent lunch with work colleagues. I was a bit upset because I always cancelled work lunches to meet her. I told her how I felt and she laughed at me and did not believe me. She told me that she had many male friends at work and liked having banter with them and a bit of fun.

These felt like red flags to me. I then stated to read up on psychology of marriage on the net and brought a few books.

We started to read the books together and agreed to set boundaries:
1. Being open and honest
2. No one to ones with opposite sex in restaurants.
3. Me helping more around the house
4. More face to face time together

Things seemed to be going well until I noticed that she would always lock her computer when we worked from home. I aksed her to show me her emails as we had agreed to be open. She said no as I would see some mails to mail colleagues that I would interpret the wrong way. This of course set alarm bells wringing.

I feel really bad as we had agreed on being open and honest, yet the first time I asked for openess, she denied it. She has been hiding emails from me and then lieing to me about them.

What's the best way to proceed as I feel that I cannot trust her. She has probably deleted the emails now.

opinions needed

I just need an opinion on myself

So I used to like cleaning, washing clothes , iron and arrange things neatly. I would do thorough cleaning a lot and I could be busy cleaning the whole day. I loved cooking trying new receipt's. ohh and I loved s*x so much. in fact we had sex a couple of times daily.

And now ever since the problems in my marriage.
I can't get myself to do anything, its like I'm forcing myself to do everything, I'm lazy to clean , cook, everything and sex is like a responsibility like I have to not because I want to.

I just need opinions cause I do not like this me and I want the old me back.

losing my mind with this girl

  • Thread Starter

Okay, so we'd be texting back and forth, conversation is going great, and she suddenly stops replying. I know she's read the message and she still goes online after, but just stops replying. So at that point I'm like well **** you too then and promise myself I just won't talk to her again, but everytime she texts me, I clap like a retarded seal and respond within seconds, but then she does it again, just randomly stops replying for no reason. If she wasn't interested (just friend wise, not romantically) then surely she wouldn't contact me at all.

does this mean she is not interested in me

  • Thread Starter

I met this girl at uni, Only met her twice.
She usually sits alone in lectures as she wants to concentrate. But when I talk to her she seems interested in hanging out and stuff.

She asked an question about an exam issue, which I had to help her or she would of failed it. she replied " what would I do without you" I said " I know, who else can I talk about my old person fetish with" she replied " I know right, I would be so lost without you".

is she saying she is not interested? because she is being really friendly?

Boyfriend spent too much on gifts!

  • Thread Starter

My bf and I are long distance so I received a gift today. A jewellery set which cost $100 on sale! It's upsetting me. I got a box frame and found maps of places important to me and cut them into hearts around the quotation 'let's go on an adenture' . I am really stressing.

Ldrs rarely work. I don't even know if I will be with him this time next year. He's been talking about engagement. I don't know what to do. I don't believe in big gifts so this is freaking me out. It's suffocating me.:(

Invited himself over to my house but hasn't turned up

  • Thread Starter

Okay so me and this guy have known each other since we were 5 (we're both 17 now). We've recently become good friends and I have a massive crush on him and I think he likes me too.

So it was the last day of term and he asked where exactly I lived and then he said 'I'll visit you over the holiday'. I agreed and it was settled at that. I had no time, no day or anything since we don't have each others phone numbers. We're both really shy so it took a lot of courage for him to say this. He's already asked me out twice indirectly but neither times have we arranged an actual date.

My question is: why hasn't he turned up and why is he acting like this? I'm not sure if it's just because he's really shy and awkward, just as I am, or if it's because he's just not interested. If we were to go out, this would be the first relationship for both of us. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

How do gay people find their partners?

  • Thread Starter

I'm confused as to how gay people find others, I know literally none in real life, and the only ones I know are through speaking to them online and they live ages away. I don't want to jump into a relationship or anything but it would be nice. How did you all find someone?

I need serious relationship advice/input

  • Thread Starter

Hello

From an outsiders POV, how does this sound:

We've had a few arguments lately, things havent been too great but we've told eachother we'll make it work. Anyway, Me and my gf of 2 years planned to go out for NYE (meal/drinks) then go back to hers

Some guy she met at work has been trying to flirt with her a bit, wants sex

She has invited him back to hers (with me) for him to sleep in the spare room as apparently he can't go out tonight unless he has somewhere to stay. He continually messaged her asking for them 2 to just go out.

This has seriously pissed me off but she doesnt see it from my POV as ever, I wanted it to be just me and her when we got back not some random tag along shes known for a few weeks

Am I over reacting or is she being sly? I feel like our relationship depends on what happens tonight as I can't be with her if she's willing to actually go out with another guy who has sexual intentions then invite him back to sleep in the spare room (it's her parents house)

Ex randomly sends me Whatsapp Message? :/

  • Thread Starter

Me and my ex (we were together three years) and I broke up with him before I went to university. We have had about two months of not speaking to each other.

Then, out of the blue, at 1.30am he sends me a Whatsapp message with a link to song lyrics on you tube. I have no idea what this means, and I do not know if to reply or to just leave it and move on?
