Do I have a right to be upset?

Hey all,

I just need a bit of help with this situation.

Me and this girl are really good friends. There isn't anything romantic - neither of us see the other that way. Recently, she has had to move cities and lives about 1 hour away by train. Since moving, we have been able to meet up far less. I've made trips to see her but she hasn't, not once. She's become a more distant with me, which I find a real shame because she's a really good friend and I enjoy her company. I've mentioned this to her in a polite way and she's said she would never forget me.

Today, I happened to run into her in my town purely by chance when I was out - I didn't know she was around, apparently she had come down to visit another friend (a mutual friend). I had initially asked her last Wednesday if she wanted to do something this weekend, but she said couldn't and had a midday shift at work. This is not the first time she's cancelled or avoided seeing me - in fact this is the 3rd time, even when I've suggested meeting up at her place. The fact that she came to see someone else and then had to lie about it has really upset/hurt me. She was really cool about the situation the whole time I chatted with her, as though nothing was wrong. She could have been open with me, I wouldn't have minded, but why lie. I didn't know what to say to her when I saw her - was totally lost for words. She's spent the whole day with this guy - there's nothing romantic there either because this guy has a girlfriend. He's actually a good guy and he told me all the fun stuff they did together today.

I honestly feel like a right idiot.

After cancelling on me several times, I now get the strong feeling that she'd rather not be friends with me any more.

Question is, do I have right to be upset by all this or should I let it go?

does anyone still think about their ex...years down the line?

It's almost three years since I broke up with an ex, and not a day goes by where I don't think about him or wonder what he's doing...sometimes I even fantasise about seeing him again and what it would be like. I have had longer relationships since, (We were only together for 9 months) and am in a good relationship now...but I just can't get back that amazing feeling I had with this certain ex.

Is this at all normal? I know people say you never forget your first love...but surely to the point of obsessing about him daily is not right (plus he wasn't even my first love, i'd had a 2 year relationship before him)? I am worried that if I haven't got over him in three years I never will and I'm never going to be truly happy with anyone else. Sometimes I think I would be happier my memory of him was completely wiped!

Girl meets boy, now what?

Hi guys,

Soooo I met a guy recently at work and we really hit it off, long story short I've developed a bit of a crush on him. I'm trying to engineer situations where can see each other more often so I can possibly make a move, haha.

Anyway, my one concern (wrong word really, it's just something I'm curious about) is that he seems from fb to be very strictly Jewish. I was just wondering, as I'm very naive in this area, are Jewish families as strict on who they date as is portrayed on TV etc? As in, I'm not Jewish, would he be disowned by his family if we were to start dating?

Sorry if this seems a stupid question!!

Feel uncomfortable living with gay people?

I am straight and I'm a uni student, and it turns out I'll be living with 3 gay people and one straight guy due to some arrangements (people moving in/out, some taking a placement so needing students to fill accomodation). These three people are very openly gay, i.e. clear gay mannerisms.

I'm a little ashamed of myself but I feel incredibly awkward around them. I know I shouldn't, but the way they act, I can't help it. My parents and background given my religious upbringing perhaps has added to that.

I'm fine with being friends with them or talking to them, but actually living with them has really thrown me. I'm not worried they'll hit on me or anything, I'm sure they won't it's just I can't get past the whole gay mannerisms (which they are very stereotypical, i.e. very camp).

Feel like I want to back out of the contract and go and live with other people, but feel really bad about it. I'd like to have thought I wasn't prejudiced, but actually facing the prospect of living with them, I'm really awkward about it. And rejecting them because they're gay, I just kind of feel a little sick with myself.

Thoughts/advice? Anyone been in a similar position?

She doesn't want to give me false hope?

So there is a girl that I liked and I asked her if she was seeing someone - which she said she was. I said that's fine - still friends yeah? to which she said of course we talked for a couple of days after and then stopped - just completely vanished with no explanation. I sent her a text that basically said "I don't know what I've done wrong. I still want us to be friends" to which she responded.... I don't hate you I just don't want to give you false hope.

I'm not going to get false hope though - that's all in the past. Hmmmm I'm confused.

Men & hygiene

I want to see where my husband is compared to others in general because I really wish he put more effort in with shaving, showering at least 1x/day, wearing cologne etc.

How important is your own hygiene to yourself? My husband isn't terrible but I wish he was 'fresh & clean' more often and showered every night before bed (even if he showered in the morning). He rarely wears cologne and it drives me nuts because I love when a guy smells good.

Is that being unreasonable?

Is communication the hardest thing to accomplish?

So many seems to listen with full baggage, emotion, assumptions, cynical analysis of intent behind the question, gender specific communication styles and the like altering the intended meaning of every day words.

The question "Just curious, why do you ask?" pops up a lot. sometimes you can feel the "I knew it. You're a zhitball" vibe from that point if the intent violates their pile of baggage wisdom.

I am often stunned what seems clearly stated gets so misunderstood so fast.

For example...

I am HD and wife is LD.

From a banned member. "Its your fault you are not attractive to your spouse. What have you done to your wife to deserve your zhitty marriage?"

I am paraphrasing but WTF?

If that isn't presumptuous baggage then what is?

Hahahaha

One Transaction At a Time

We speak often of viewing things from 50,000 feet. Once people elevate themselves to that level, we can detach "enough" from our own stake in things to view behavior on a transactional level.

How many threads are on this board about "what to do" for Mother's Day?

This is up to and including those poor souls whose wives took one from posOM just last night.

If you're at 50,000 feet, is there any sort of warmth that would be productive in that situation?

Are you ok with what she's doing?

If you aren't, then why in the world would you go out of your way to be nice?

All you're doing is giving the signal that you are OK with what she's currently doing.

Are you?

Then gin up the stones to resist doormat behavior.

You cannot talk your way out of something you've behaved your way into.

BUT.. you can BEHAVE your way out of it.

Yet, you got into this "one transaction at a time"

That is also the road out.

But, you have to observe your own reactions to manage your own lives.

Have a great day ladies and gentlemen.

Observe what's going on and report it.

We'll kick it around.

Question for the men

Do you think it's okay for your wife/SO to look up and down at a man? Is it okay if they have mental thoughts of sleeping with them or wonder how good they would be in bed even though they have no intentions of doing do? Would it be okay for your wives/SO to stare at their packages through magazines even though its meaningless?

I'm just very curious. Would this bother you? Thanks.

This annoys me in bed

I don't know how to say this nicely to him but we have issues with him already not wanting to give me oral very much. Even went to a sex therapist over it, didn't get much resolution.
Anyway when he is going to do it every four or five months when the stars are perfectly aligned, he slowly starts kissing down my body.
But it's not sexy kisses, it's like pecks and like he's putting off the inevitable. It's just such a turn off like you already waited five freaking months I don't need to be teased about, just do it!
It just feels like it ruins the whole experience for me. But how do I tell him in a nice way without making him never want to do it again?

Can your gut be wrong?

Is it true that your gut is always right?

What if you are just a naturally suspicious and cynical person and you've been cheated on before?

I have a gut feeling about my partner, but how do I know that it's not paranoia?

He hasn't mentioned any women, but then I don't have access to any passwords, and there could be other reasons why he seems distant.

I could just be a crazy lady and a bit of a bunny boiler.

Can I please ask what the signs are?

Also, if anyone else has been accused of cheating when they definitely have not cheated. Do people sometimes read too much into stuff and their gut reaction is completely wrong?

Thanks.

I feel like I'm losing my boyfriend.

Hey all, I posted a long thread.. and it wont let me post the link, darn it! .....
It gives the background information and a bit of the trouble i've had. I guess you'll have to find it through my name if you want to see it.

Anyway, now I'm completely lost and feel even more like I'm losing the man I love. I don't know if my mind is playing tricks on me, or if I'm even "right" but I just want to fix this and I need some help.

So long background story short, I'm 28 and living back with family while I finish up getting a degree in the culinary arts. My boyfriend is 31 and also in college, living an hour and a half away in another state. We met on Eharmony over 3 years ago, and up until recently I've never questioned things or felt he had any doubts.

He and I also have been going through a lot in our separate lives, and its affecting our relationship. He just found his biological mom, and 5 siblings. (More about this is in other thread). I am so happy for him, and while I'm worried that they may hurt him in the process of getting to know him, I know thats part of getting to know someone who is blood related and came out of nowhere.

On my side of things I have a bi-polar mother, who is very over weight and recently broke her leg getting out of the shower. My world caved in on me, and I'm only starting to see the light with this situation now. I've gone from starting to separate from mom to having to help her full time when I'm not at school. My dad has to work, and has no more days off to spend on mom. They help me alot, I feel obligated to help mom but theres alot of resentment and the relationship my mom and I have is rocky. My boyfriend doesn't understand it and I've found myself unable to talk to him about anything pertaining to my troubles with mom.

Okay so Last thursday my boyfriend called me after work (11pm, he's talked to me every day since we met) and he was irate. His sister (the one he grew up with) was asking him for money, and from his point of view her husband wasn't taking care of her and sitting at home. He used me as his sounding board, which is great, but because he was already reved up, when I would ask ANY question he'd yell at me! It really hurt so I recoiled back and let him rant a while. Suddenly he said he didn't feel like talking and hung up. He's never hung up before.

Okay so yes. I understand that entire conversation had NOTHING to do with me, and I've done stuff like thta to people I could trust too. But I always apologize later, and then get mad at them for feeling hurt. I've already been feeling a bit insecure, because this stress with his new family and sister have really pulled him away.

Well, when he called back I was waiting for an apology that never came. I didn't say much because last time anything I said would get me snipped at. I'm not one to remain angry and not tell the person I'm upset with why.... so I texted him once the phone call ended. Apologized for being quiet and told him I was a bit hurt and thrown off. He acted like I was completely out of line, and apologized but it was followed by a "but..." .

Anyway, long story short the three hour conversation led to both why I was insecure and that he essentially needed space. He never said any of those words "I need space" but he asked in text if I felt him calling every day and seeing me every weekend was a bit much. Calling every night I'm okay letting go of, but as I told him, even a goodnight text is necessary in a long distance long term relationship like this to keep the lines of communication open and to make me feel secure. (I've done that with my closest family too, I just keep in touch often to make sure they are okay).
As for seeing me every weekend, I dont think thats a bit much. Yes its an hour and a half drive for one person or the other, but lately he's acting like that drive is just too much of an obligation. Since my last post, I've only seen him one weekend, and thats because I drove up to see him.
We often go every other weekend because the trip is long and we are both in college again. School and life get in the way. But when a weekend is open to see him I go up there, he rarely wants to make the drive down anymore. And when he does, he acts like it was exhausting, doesn't even hug me hello.. just comes in, plops down and takes a nap.
.... hello nice to see you too? :/

After Thursdays text session I left him alone. He really did seem like he just wanted "space", and I understand guys minds work entirely different about that than women. So even through my insecurities about it, I've let him go do his thing.
Friday went by and no after work call came through. Saturday has now gone with no contact and I'm starting to lose my mind mid Sunday. I hate being scared to text or call for fear I'll bug him, and I want him to WANT to talk to me without me just being an obligation.

What do I do? Do I text him and just say hi? do I wait till tonight? I am losing my mind, I hate not knowing what to do or what hes thinking. Above all, I really miss him.

Guys: Would you delete nude photos/videos if asked?

Well, would you actually delete that stuff or would you lie about it (or worse would you distribute it, and if so, what would possess you to do that)? Someone I slept with had videos of me (I didn't consent to him doing that, little ****) and when I found out he did that I told him I was not happy - so he offered to delete the material. I was surprised I didn't even have to ask him, but I'm wondering if its typical for a guy to LIE about deleting nude footage of a girl. I even asked him to send me the video afterwards as I was "curious" but he said he deleted it, I still don't know if he's lying...can anyone interpret that?
My biggest fear is that these will end up on the net, though this guy explicitly said he'd never share stuff of a girl that trusted him (err I didn't even give him consent to record me so it wasn't like he had that material because of my trust but whatever). I've spent everyday living in fear of this, I decided to tell the the guy I was really upset so he replied it was fair enough and he just confirmed again that he deleted that stuff.
A reason I find it hard to trust him as I know he has videos of his ex-gf, and he lied to her about deleting their videos previously, but they have a lot of history and she was awful to him so maybe that's why (whereas I'm in his good books)?

Interested to know what people would do in a similar situation and if anyone has opinions on what's going with mine and what I could do!...x

Love and studies

I am a first year medical student. Started medicine about 7 months ago. Took a gap year in 2012. The thing is I just can not concentrate on studies anymore. I am smart but medicine calls for hardwork and studying most of the time. I am in a long distance relationship since 1 and a half years and my focus is only on my boyfriend. We have 11 hours time difference and it sucks. I just want to talk to him atleast once during the day on phone or skype but most of the time it can not happen. I have to wait till night and I waste my whole day without studying or doing anything else. I have an exam on tuesday and I am sure i'll fail it 'cause I just didnt study?

Any motivational advice on how to keep the relationship AND excel in my studies? or atleast not fail? Love is occupying my mind ALL the time! :(
