Hey all, I just need a bit of help with this situation. Me and this girl are really good friends. There isn't anything romantic - neither of us see the other that way. Recently, she has had to move cities and lives about 1 hour away by train. Since moving, we have been able to meet up far less. I've made trips to see her but she hasn't, not once. She's become a more distant with me, which I find a real shame because she's a really good friend and I enjoy her company. I've mentioned this to her in a polite way and she's said she would never forget me. Today, I happened to run into her in my town purely by chance when I was out - I didn't know she was around, apparently she had come down to visit another friend (a mutual friend). I had initially asked her last Wednesday if she wanted to do something this weekend, but she said couldn't and had a midday shift at work. This is not the first time she's cancelled or avoided seeing me - in fact this is the 3rd time, even when I've suggested meeting up at her place. The fact that she came to see someone else and then had to lie about it has really upset/hurt me. She was really cool about the situation the whole time I chatted with her, as though nothing was wrong. She could have been open with me, I wouldn't have minded, but why lie. I didn't know what to say to her when I saw her - was totally lost for words. She's spent the whole day with this guy - there's nothing romantic there either because this guy has a girlfriend. He's actually a good guy and he told me all the fun stuff they did together today. I honestly feel like a right idiot. After cancelling on me several times, I now get the strong feeling that she'd rather not be friends with me any more. Question is, do I have right to be upset by all this or should I let it go? | |||
