Why do some cheaters not take responsibility? It's the Tellon Effect!

It's likely that the cheater has never really ever taken full responsibility for their actions. From "The dog ate my homework" to "Mom, Dad, you shouldn't have let me drive the car when I was drunk" to "You never treated me like I was your husband/wife" they have an excuse for every wrong thing they ever did.
