Want to try anal but my boyfriend doesn't seem keen on it

Hi. So, I'm female and I'm a bit bored of sex with boyfriend of 3.5 years, kind of trying to find something new and exciting to do in bed. He's said in the past he would never really be interested in anal because the thought of putting his penis in a butthole grosses him out, but I'm the sort of person who doesn't discount things before I've tried them. It's been a long relationship, so I don't know for sure if he still thinks of it the same way.
