Is it Ok?

Right so I've been sort of trying to hit it off with this girl I like. I've been texting her for around a month but I'm not sure it's going anywhere. Anyway, here's the thing, I went to a 21st on Saturday and, long story short, ended up getting with her best mate. Now I know there will be differing opinions on this, but my question is, Is it ok to do this sort of thing when you're texting someone but not in a relationship?
