Do I tell the police?

Recently things have happened and the magistrates court have found my boyfriend to be innocent. This has outraged his family (who were trying to falsely prosecute him for a crime that did not happen) today on Facebook I've read that if this woman sees my boyfriend she'll basically beat him up and take pictures of what she's done to him (He doesn't have fb btw). his whole family are thugs. I feel if I tell the police and they then speak to this woman it'll make things worse as more people will be angry at him and it'll just snowball into something worse. i don't know what to do about the situation. Do I tell the police? Can I remain anonymous if I speak to the police? You may think that I shouldn't get involved but I'm worried about him, he doesn't know about this 'threat' btw.
