Initially I thought foreign = sexy accent and nice tan...but when the dates went well, I started thinking more deeply and there are a lot of cons to this sitution. Has anyone been in a relationship like this and have the cons been worth it? Here's my list of worries
- I find long distance hard enough when we're in the same country and where as summer you tend to see your boyfriend more...there will be a few years of barely seeing him for 3 months.
- Unless he changes his mind, he doesn't want to settle down in the UK. I'm a homebody, I find it really hard being a few hours away from home at uni and get quite homesick, I can't imagine moving abroad, permanently, let alone living somewhere where english isn't the native language.
- In his culture, they tend to settle down later...he hasn't had much relationship experience. Where as I have, and I'm pretty much ready to settle down, when I meet the right person. Plus I have a syndrome which means carrying a baby full-term will be a battle, so have been advised if I want children (which I do) - 20's are best. Non foreign but still issue But he's going to be a student till I'm 25...
I know it's a bit early to be thinking about all this stuff...but I don't want to commit myself to a relationship if it pretty much won't work out long term. Plus the more time I spend with him the more attached I get.
Can anyone also tell me what it's like meeting the parents not for a couple of hours but y'know staying at their house for a week?
