My ex keeps popping up

Anon or delete please, my boyfriend won't read this as anon but he knows my username. So, an ex of mine - well, I say ex. We were "together" (read: basically **** buddies) for a few weeks two years ago, and weren't at all serious. But anyway - an ex of mine keeps messaging me every six months or so asking how I am and saying he misses me. The first couple of times I told him to leave me alone, because I'd moved on and he clearly hadn't, but since then I've ignored him - at my boyfriend's request. (Basically this ex and I were "together" after my boyfriend and I split up, but then after that I ended up back with my boyfriend). He's popped up again, this time to ask me if we can be friends. Now my boyfriend doesn't want me to give him the time of day. I don't want to be friends either, but I hold no grudge against him, and I think the least I can do is reply saying I don't think we should be friends rather than blanking him completely. However my boyfriend insists that I just don't say a word and completely blank him out. I feel like either option makes me a bad person :( what do I do? If it makes a difference, my boyfriend and I received a few messages on Facebook in November last year claiming to be from a man my boyfriend had supposedly slept with, saying they were going to tell me about it. He is convicted my ex is behind this but I really don't think it was him - because I think it was a girl we used to work with who hated my boyfriend.
