What should a sixteen year old be allowed to do?

I've always known that I had strict parents, but after looking at some threads on Mumsnet (don't judge), I was surprised at just how little relative freedom I've been given.

Now I'm a good student, never been in trouble, can't remember the last full blown argument we've had, all that nonsense yet it seems like my parents don't trust me.

Whenever I want to hang out with friends a full discussion must take place: who? where? why? etc. I'm supposed to be home at 9.30 latest, 10 if I have some sort of time sensitive activity like a film or birthday party, and I've begged in advance. I live in an extremely safe place with low crime rates and since its summer it gets dark later on.
On top of that I'm not allowed to go on sleepovers unless my parents have met my friend's parents face to face, have contact details, full medical history of the whole family.
Parents are writing things about house parties and alcohol and seem to not mind a bit. Also festivals/holidays abroad seem ok for them if the child is mature enough, whereas my parents wouldn't even consider it.

Not really sure the point of this point, guess I want some confirmation as to if this is out of the ordinary. Maybe tips on how to get parents to be more flexible also?
